It's a very large hostel and the staff were efficient but do not actively offer advice on the local area or the facilities in the hostel. Avoid a room near the garden; it remained noisy all night...until 7.00am!
This hostel is located close to all the sights in Philly but it was the staff that made the hostel very special. The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about what to see and where to go as well as arranging evening activities; one of the top 5 hostels I have stayed in during my year long travels!
A great place...just like being in your own house!
All good, apart from the vicious lockers at the beds...took a chunk out of my head!
The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the free breakfast is a plus. This is a small non-party hotel, great for recharging the batteries. There's a strange quirk about having to have a ticket for breakfast rather than ticking a name off of a list, even though the hostel is so small.
It's a very quiet hostel, good for r&r before and after a Salad tour. Only a 5 minute stroll to the centre...SPdA is just not that big! Jose was very helpful.
Creaking floorboards...there's a first world problem!! It is a very peaceful place, so great for recharging the batteries. There were no bad points.
A great place to hang out, with very friendly and helpful staff and the Friday BBQ is tops!
Easy to find and very good security. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Staff very helpful on my early arrival and did not try and force the Halong Bay tour on me!
The hostel is in an old style building, so a little cold I the winter but the electric blankets work well! The staff are all very helpful and staying additional days due to no buses (snow) was not a problem and they looked after me well. This is definitely the place to stay in Shangri-La!
The hostel is well located In the old town, although a little tricky to find; the staff were very helpful, especially "Ray", who actually came and collected me when I was lost.
The staff were very helpful during the stay and changed my room when requested, as it was too noisy. However, they did not arrange my early check out with the night security, who I had to wake up to unlock the doors and let me out! Almost missed my train but, that apart, a good stay.
A good place to meet other travellers, although the bar is a bit expensive (20RMB a pint). Very helpful staff.
A great place in the warm weather, but the common room and shower room are very cold in the Beijing winter (hence the average scores). Staff are very helpful and the Jinshanling Great Wall tour was good value.
Picked up from the station at 5.30am! Tour to Gobi desert was brilliant, just too short at 7 days. It would be better if the door was locked during the day.
Location great for the centre but quite a hike from the train station; tram costs 12 roubles.
It's still a work in progress but vwill be finevwhern finished. The kitchen needs a proper sink and draining board.
Oh So Indie has plenty of potential to be a first class hostel, especially given its location so close to the city centre ,but it is now rather tired and it needs to have small but important problems fixed, such as replacing the shower hose holders. Whilst the rooms are big, the washing area is cramped and has not been set out effectively; why has the floor near the hand basins not been raised so they can be used normally? It is also not particularly clean. Simple changes will improve it no end.
One of the best hostels I have stayed in; very clean, secure and friendly. If I have to fault anything, it is the size of the kitchen, but that is off-set by an on-site bar! Also, the staff rating should be higher as they were all very friendly but efficient and worked hard, especially with the activities. Stay here and you won't be disappointed, unless you're too posh and rich for a proper hostel!
This is basically someone's apartment and I had the most uncomfortable mattress in 3 months of hostelling. It is not kept very clean. Difficult to find and I did not feel comfortable. Left after first night of 3 night booked stay (says it all, really).
