Oops Design Hostel

Sort of clean, good enough wifi, ice cold shower, nice breakfast (museli juice coffee croissants), squeaky bunk beds. Check in is 4pm which sucked because I had just arrived and needed to sleep so urgently.

Hey! Thanks for the review :) Sorry for the ice cold shower, we had an accident that was totally punctual and we tried to resolve it as fast as we could. Kind regards, Oops! Staff

Super clean, good wifi, curtains on beds is great for a better nights sleep, great breakfast (apple purée and Greek yoghurt on museli yeah!). Super close to parc de buttes chaumont (enormous park) which is beautiful in summer. About a 20min metro from all the Parisian touristy stuff. Atmosphere is typical of huge hostel chains.

Hostel One Paralelo

Barcelona, Spain

Cool chilled atmosphere, small enough to make friends (especially at the free dinners), helpful staff, great wifi, super clean, great location (super close to placa de espanya magic fountain and the gothic region). AMAZING free dinner! I had a free dinner at hostel one Prague which was pooptastic but Paralelo's paella with mussels was one of the best meals I've had in ages (let alone for free)!

Sant Jordi Diagonal Hostel

Barcelona, Spain

Super clean, great wifi, great kitchen facilities, HUGE movie/TV selection, big party atmosphere but small enough for solo travellers to make friends easily. Gus you were super helpful with sites and clubs! Key loss fine was €30 so be smarter than me and don't get drunk and lose it/get it stolen. Super close to 2 metro stops and like 30min walk from most things.

Super close to main girona station which is like 90mins from Barcelona on the train. Great wifi in lobby only. Breakfast was a bit meh just cornflakes, toast, spreads. 24hr reception is awesome if you're getting a crummy late Ryan air flight to girona airport.

Super clean, beds were really comfortable with personal charge points, great wifi everywhere. The location is incredible, on an island and only 5mins from San Marco! However to get here you HAVE to get a water bus which is like €7/trip (much cheaper for students with multi day passes) and like 45mins from St Lucia station so factor that into your budget/timing.

Clean, wifi was a bit patchy, free computers, the reception desk needs more staff! It took like an hour to check in and about 30mins to check out! 30 mins to hand my key back in jeez!

Carpe Noctem

Budapest, Hungary
100%

Carpe is a solo backpacker-eating monster. You try to leave but you never will. I lied that I didn't have any clothes for the booze cruise so Rosie washed mine. I said I had no towel for the bath party so Jaimee gave me a free one. I tried checking out as a last resort but ended up being seduced into someone else's bed. I spent my train to Vienna singing in an impromptu cover band called "Stece Buscemi and the bee stings." A Carpe friend who was meant to meet me in Venice never showed up...

Incredible place! Super social for solo travellers, great wifi, big TV with tons of movies for resting, free dinners and great kitchen for meeting people, amazingly helpful staff for partying (something on every night), close to supermarkets, really chilled out feel.

Hostel Nanina

Munich, Germany

A solid 30min train ride and walk from the hautbahnhof station. Breakfast was just toast and spreads. Wifi only works on the second Sunday of the blue moon when the planets are aligned and the user is pure of heart. Other guests were friendly and social. But all considered its great value for Oktoberfest seeing as it's a third of the price of other places.

Quite close to hautbahnhof station, bathrooms were clean but small, good breakfast, wifi only worked in one tiny spot for me, staff had zero suggestions for maps/things to do. They simply pointed me to the information centre (which was very helpful).

Good wifi in reception, great breakfast, good shower, beds a little squeaky but comfortable. Pretty far from town it's a bit of a hassle to go out at night. Also read the fine print if you don't have a hostelling international card you WILL be charged an extra €3.50 on top of your current booking so make sure you factor that into your budget. No atmosphere for a solo traveller really.

Jetpak Alternative

The best hostel I have ever visited. all facilities are flawless plus great advice for visiting abandoned sites (thanks Bernard) and within a 30min walk of pretty much every good nightclub in berlin. No other hostel allows you to rally a posse of 15 solo travellers and visit an abandoned theme park on Friday the 13th. This place turned my 1 week berlin trip into 2.5weeks.

Good wifi in reception only, great value breakfast, pretty good atmosphere (but there were a lot of guys when I was there?), made some good friends, great location. Zero privacy in the showers, like no shower curtain and holes in the dividers so yeah hopefully you're comfortable with your body.

Hands down the best hostel on earth for solo travellers. Spotlessly clean, lightning fast wifi everywhere, super comfy and roomy, stupidly easy to meet people (even for an introvert like me) and go out partying. Staff are super helpful (Julian you are the wind beneath my wings) and will sometimes even go clubbing with you, amazing location. Unfaultable.

Relatively clean rooms, fast wifi in reception only, good breakfast, easy enough to meet people, except the people you will be meeting tend to be really only interested in getting high, a lot of guys mainly and sort of overpriced, but that's all of Amsterdam really.

Great hostel. Met some really nice people. Heaps of restaurants/bars nearby. Right next to gare du nord station for international trains. Great breaky museli, yoghurt bread coffee. Great atmosphere will be even better once they open the underground common area. Super helpful/sociable staff. Lockers are great just bring a padlock. Thanks heaps!
