We stayed in a double room in Kikie's second guesthouse, which is round the corner from the original. It doesn't have the atmosphere of the original house, but the room was big & clean and had a big comfy bed with mosquito net. The bathroom was bizarrely built on the balcony but it had everything we needed including hot water! The people on reception totally made our stay for us, organising everything at short notice & making sure all went smoothly. Would recommend Kikie's just for them.
The hotel was ideally located to visit the old town & the double rooms are really comfortable. Atmosphere was good for a hotel style place. Unfortunately a typhoon hit Hoi An whilst we were there & the windows at the front of the building were not equipped for the wind & rain- we spent half the night mopping up water. But the staff did everything to keep things running as normal, with the generator running almost all the time, the restaurant was 1 of the few open & offered to change our room.
If you want to be in the centre of everything, this is a great find: the rooms at the front are relatively big, have a balcony, aircon, comfy beds & hot water available at all times. You my need ear plugs to block out the music from West St but only til midnight. But most of all the staff were great - Doris at reception organised trips, bike hire, airport minibus, even a massage & was happy just to chat. Her English is excellent. & the food was also great- make sure you try the banana bread!
Spacious clean room with modern bathroom, close to the centre of Xi'an's walled city. Great atmosphere, reasonably priced trips. Food & drinks a little pricey but the sandwiches & fruit salad were good quality.
