The upstair rooms are pretty nice, but overpriced. The cheaper downstairs room we stayed in was pretty small, dark and smelt of damp, with plenty of mould in the bathroom. After our original 2 day booking was up we moved to a nicer place. There was alot of other places to choose from.
Found the glass bathroom a bit freaky. Generally a little shabby. Noted that one of the common rooms had no smoking from a few hours a day, so that people could eat in peace. But given you have at least 4 different rooms I think you could make one a permanent no smoking area.
Stayed at both hostels and probably preferred this one although we did have to ask to change rooms as we were just outside the sink area where some nice Chinese 'gentleman' seemed to need to bring up phlegm with monotonous regularity over at least a two hour period and then again the next morning. Would have liked an area were we could eat in a smoke free environment. Food was good.
Really good place to stay, room lights were quite dim at night, good pizza, provided plenty of good information. In my opinion better staying in Xingping than Yangshou.
Room was starting to look a bit tired. The duvet was too thick for summer condions. But overall would recommend. Staff were extremely helpful, thank you girls. Good food, incl BBQ which really was all you can eat. Free use of washing machines in evening. We liked the place.
Was convenient for the Metro into the city. Room was okay but not much in the way of atmosphere.
This place has some fairly mixed reviews, but I couldn't really fault the place. Enjoyed my stay, staff were helpful, wouldbe happy to stay again.
Great location and helpful staff. Rooms were good but both rooms we stayed in had on suite bathrooms that were abit smelly because of the plumbing, but they were clean and we were provided with an air fresher when we asked. Great peking duck restaurant next door that was reasonably priced. Overall We wouldstay there again.
Room smelled of damp. The place generally needs a bit of attention, especially when compared with other hostels we have stayed such as in Ancud. The difference in quality is miles apart for not much difference in cost. On the plus side staff were friendly and helpful and it was located near the town centre.
Small clean friendly hostel, recommend.
Nice and very clean with good bag storage. Would have preferred more flexible cooking arrangements.
Nice friendly place. Helpful staff, undergoing a nice renovation which did not detract from visit. Would recommend.
Good hostel which I would highly recommend. Good room size with A/C and large lockers, though our room was starting to show some signs of ware.
Watch out for the door step which is at two different heights, I think they will wait until someone seriously hurt themselves before sorting it! Was in room one which is just outside the hostel front door, so you need to be buzzed in at night to go to the toilet, not ideal. Kitchen was pretty small. Apart from these gripes the place was okay, bathroom was large and clean.
All of the favela, with none of the chic. Very disappointing, two many beds too few facilities most of which require people to walk through the main dorm. The air con was unable to cool the room down, hence it was like trying to sleep in an oven. No where to put your stuff. Really badly organised. If your organising a tour in the Argentinian side, book it elsewhere, or better still just take the local buses. In summary stay somewhere else, to avoid the disappointment.
A small very friendly hostel in a good location. The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming and really make the hostel. Ended up staying four nights and would definitely recommend the place. Only slight negative is that the 9 person dorm is really only big enough for a 6 person maximum.
