56 Red Inn Guesthouse, Penang, Malaysia

It was in a great location. You could easily see lots of the street art and eat some good street food within 1 minute of the hostel. Beds very comfy but lack of air con made the nights a bit sweaty but it was fine. The staff were great. The guy running the place was very friendly and helpful. Also he was great to chat to and complemented your complementary breakfast with a complementary smoke! Great job, great guy. Had so much fun at this hostel. Recommend!!!

Butterfly Guest House, Langkawi, Malaysia

Butterfly is special. It's secluded from other buildings and hides away up a dirt path so it feels like it's own little world. It's a very simply built wooden house that you share with the friendly family who run the place. You feel right in the middle of nature and you can absorb yourself in the simplicity of life that goes on at Butterfly. Beds are comfy mosquito-net covered mattresses and the cold outdoor shower is a shock but lovely after a sweaty night. Get a scooter and enjoy life.
