Alma de Santa Guest House

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Alma de Santa is small, familiar and friendly. Very close to everything in Santa Teresa and Lapa, yet a quiet location, no cars passing by. Breakfast is pretty standard for Brazil, but does its job. Self service 'bar' and a nice little garden to enjoy it in. The en suite double room, AC - so not perhaps the best choice for the hottest months. There is a ceiling fab, but its speed can't be adjusted so was running on 'high' and was noisy so we could not sleep with it on. Great shower, nice staff.

Pousada Mar Azul

Great location with superb views from the breakfast veranda. Internet was weak at best. Simple but clean rooms, good shower. Breakfast was fairly standard for Brazil. There's a restaurant as well but we didn't eat there are the prices were very high. Nice hammock area and again, the location right on the beach is brilliant.
