Stayed here before and after our trip to Machu Pichu. Great location, really big comfy beds with clean sheets (even change the duvet cover every day!!!) Food at bar was decent, water was a bit overpriced. Safe lockers in room and felt safe leaving our big bags here whilst we went to machu pichu. Staff are friendly though the tour agency desk didn´t really speak english which wasn´t very helpful. Simple south american breakfast but served until late which is a plus. Overall enjoyed our stay
Good hostel, always being cleaned. booked tour to colca canyon through them though I wasn´t sure it was the cheapest or best deal as our guide had very poor english. Kitchen was good, always had hot water overall had a good stay.
Hostel and facilities are gorgeous and very picturesque. We had a private double so didn't feel the security issue as much as those mentioned below. Didn't book tours through hostel as found cheaper deals elsewhere but everyone offers basically the same. Food was tasty but didn't think the BBQ was worth the price as they ran out of chicken. Overall was a good stay and would go back.
Staff very helpful. Felt safe at the hostel, was only there for one night but was a nice area. Arranged airport pickup which was on time and decent price. Would stay there again.
Stayed here before catching a flight from São Paolo airport. Staff were lovely and helpful and helped us order cab to airport (though the driver went through a few red lights!) really clean and comfy rooms, great kitchen. Will be coming back in a few wks! :-)
Stayed in private room both in the hostel and che lagarto suites opposite. Both hostels unfortunately suffered from the same problem of a very small kitchen for guests!! The room itself was clean and felt more like a hotel than a hostel. Nice pool and hammock area and good breakfast. Overall enjoyed our stay.
After reading the wonderful reviews we were disappointed that the staff found it difficult to communicate in english. The room we had was a very basic private double which due to poor window and door fittings let in the many bugs and Mosquitos. Breakfast and dinners were good but spent most the night chasing the neverending Mosquitos round the room. Also didn't like that only one person can use the communal kitchen at a time.
Meant to stay 3 nights ended up staying 11. Loved the hostel and especially the hostel staff! Hostel was kept clean and tidy throughout the day and the staff made a real effort to make us feel comfortable and at home. Dorm rooms were spacious (stayed in 4 and 8 bed), bathrooms were clean and had hot water. Great bar atmosphere in the evening. Don´t be put off by the hostel being in Lapa as it is close to all bus lines to beaches and tourist attractions - felt extremely safe there. Love books!
Stayed here to be close to Oktoberfest in blumenau - staff didn't speak any english which was very unhelpful. Rooms were clean as were the bathrooms but the shower was cold. Kitchen had a strange smell to it and seemed dirty and small. Overall I think it was an expensive hostel for what we received.
Really enjoyed our stay here. On the first night we were less impressed with the dorm it seemed to be a converted kitchen but was clean and comfy. The second night we moved to a private room which was gorgeous. Very clean, stunning views and the staff were really helpful (all 3 girls, Matthias, Leo and Jnr) breakfast was simple but on site restaurant served well priced buffet lunch and menu dinner. Rented a scooter from the hostel which was also a bonus! Definitely recommend!!
Had a great stay here, was meant to stay 3 nights ended up staying 5 and would have stayed longer if the hostel wasn't booked up! Stayed in double room which had great view and clean! Only shame was that it shared bathroom with the dorm. Henrique was really helpful and all staff in general. Only improvement would be wifi in room and a microwave in the kitchen. Would definitely recommend.
Should have listened to the comment below, room was damp, had ants and we saw cockroaches in the bathroom and lockers on a few different occasions. The girl working in the mornings was unfriendly. Definitely overpriced due to location, breakfast was good.
Very clean bathrooms, always had hot water. Room decent size and clean. Breakfast had raw eggs to make whatever you wanted. Kitchen could have been better equipped. Lovely staff, very helpful.
Great breakfasts, free wine and washing machine. Hostel was constantly being clean. Kitchen lacked utensils but was fine. Empanadas class and wine tasting in evening was fun. The male staff was great and helped make an asado outside. Only bad thing was we had paid for a 6 person dorm and they allowed a couple to share a single bunk bed meaning it was 7 of us in the room.
Where to start on my recommendation for this amazing hostel!! From the moment we arrived we felt at home, the hostel is more like an appartment than a hostel & is kept spotlessly clean. The staff are wonderful & always there to help with a smile. We enjoyed an asado & wine tasting night organised by the staff, a chimichurri making lesson & generally just enjoyed the phenomenal view from the 10th floor and cooking in their spacious kitchen This is THE ONLY place to stay in bariloche.
