Friendly English speaking staff. Cozy atmosphere in the common area. The kitchen and the bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner. It has a nice roof tarras with a BBQ grill on it but the grill wasn't cleaned. The roof tarras is a nice location to have some drinks, and also for having dinner if you feel like cleaning the grill. Supermarket is across the street and the old center and boulevard are on walking distance.
The location is really good and it's a really cheap hostel but my girlfriend got bitten by bed bugs!!:( Staff was friendly and helpful. We chose this hostel because 2 other hostels were closed (low season). Not much to do there (and in Punta del Este in general) this time if year
We had a private little cabin which was nice. Breakfast was good. Staff didn't really speak English and wifi didn't really work everywhere/all the time. Aside from hostel: Ilha Granda is a romantic little island with nice beaches but you really notice everybody (especially tour agencies) wants something from the tourists. For example the tour agencies say there isn't a low cost boat to shore (which there was), and you can only take theirs.
Extremely friendly English, French and Portuguese speaking staff. We were helped so good with all our traveling questions. It's got a really good location to walk to all the atmospheric bars and restaurants in Lapa. Busses stop near the hostel (5min walk). The hostel has a nice garden, provides lockers, clean towels, pretty good showers. We already made a reservation at this same hostel for the end of our trip in 2014. It's that good!
