Aoi's is the perfect combination of guest-house and hostel, quietly friendly and social with a great relaxing atmosphere
While the lobby area is great, we were very disappointed with our "Deluxe" 3 bed dorm, complete with flooded bathroom floor that stays wet for hours after showering, a tap that can barely manage more than a trickle and one of the creakiest, ricketiest bunks we've ever slept on (good luck trying to sleep if either person needs to roll over during the night). Only a few lockers are provided in the lobby, on a first come first serve basis, so I hope you trust your room-mates.
If you're on the hyper-social hostel buzz, you can't really find a better hostel than Spicy. They've cultivated the ultimate social atmosphere, with a great social area, and the staff organise group activities almost every night, like free group drop-off to the Markets, group outings to swim at lakes or on-site BBQs.
When you stay in Bangkok, trust me, you want to avoid Khao San Rd. De Talak may seem out of the way but it has immediate access to Bangkok's MRT which will be your main way of traversing the city. The hostel has a very relaxed, friendly chill-out vibe, and the staff are immensely helpful.
