Wombat City Hostel in Vienna is a very professionally functioning hostel. I gave it the highest ratings in the fields provided. It should be mentioned, that it probably appeals to the younger set, the party goers more. It can be noisy at times with people returning late, or early in the morning, or a delivery truck doing business outside your window at 05:30 AM. Overall, it was very good - with a bit of give and take. Having Viennas great transport system almost at your door step is an advantage
The location was excellent. It was like an appartment all set up for two people to live there independently. There was cuttlery and crockery, a fridge and a TV set. They are just setting themselves up, so some room to play must be given. I would recommend, that on top of the entrance door, the grill should be either replaced or a strong glass put behind it. This would prevent the noise from the entrance and all the other neighbours to be heard inside the appartments.
Taban Hostel & Bar does an excellent job in insulating the noise of the bar from the sleeping quarters. As ist is located in a pedestrian district, food and drink are also no problem. Excellent public transport ( trams ) are also available within walking distance.
Hayt Hotel / Hostel is in an excellent location, within walking distance to the bazaar. Staff at the front desk are very friendly and knowlegable. The single rooms also have a bathroom and toilet.I would recommend, if it's possible to get an upstairs room in the Hostel section, they should be a touch quieter. But, despite all the mosques in the vicinity and the announcements emanatiing from them, noise is not a problem. In the case of the mosques, they ad to the athmosphere of Sarajewo. Value !
Star Hostel/Hotel is in an excellent location. The young man at reception is very helpful and is keen on sharing his knowledge of his country. For more peace and quiet ask for rooms not facing the street.
My pleasure to stay at the Urban Hostel was probably heightened by my previous hostel stay. The two cannot even compare. Urban Hostel should be an inspiration for many other hostels. This is what a hostel should be, a home away from home.
The Levitt Hostel has only one thing going for it - the location. If you are keen on a noisy environment, you'll love it there especially the room at the left after the entrance. The shower and toilet needs a shower curtain, so as not to flood the whole room. The internet speed made my old dial-up connection pretty fast. Of all the hostels I have visited on a long trip through Europe - this one was the worst. It would have been poor if it was the 70's - yes, last century.
