Manena Hostel

Genoa, Italy

Small lockers and buzz to get into building. They do however basically let anybody in. Located near main square and metro and coast less than 10 mins walk. Staff gave lots of info and helped really well, wouldn't say they went above and beyond but appreciated them. Small common area can be claustrophobic but still lots of people about makes for good chat. Cleaned every day, and about 4 wash rooms so no trouble using the loo or showering. Enjoyed my stay, comfy bed too.

Your Hostel

Palermo, Italy

Medium-sized lockers with code to get into building. Located 10 mins from central station and 5 minutes of all major sites. Staff a mixture of volunteers and employees, but were very friendly and helpful at all times. Good atmosphere with communal kitchen and upstairs terrace. Hostel cleaned every day, small number of showers and toilets for number of guests but still ok. Good kitchen and internet area. Loved my stay here. Thank you everyone.

CCLy Hostel

Catania, Italy

Hostel off the main road with key card access and huge lockers. Located within 5 minutes walk of most sites. Staff is a mixture of owners and volunteers, and all are fantastically helpful: The woman (very friendly) actually sat down with me and my map to plan my visit. All rooms, reception, kitchen and common area in close quarters so everyone is closely involved for good atmosphere. Cleaned every day, with full kitchen and shower facilities. Can't fault it. Very difficult to leave in fact.

Ostello Burigozzo 11

Milan, Italy

Keycodes and lockers good. Easy to get to from the centre via tram. Staff friendly and helpful and gave all info. Atmosphere okay in the eves as the two common rooms are good. Cleaning every day from 11 till 2 ensures very clean hostel. Value for money was ok, standard hostel prices for standard facilities. i.e. two showers for a big room, one toilet, fully equipped kitchen. Pretty standard but comfortable and well-run hostel.

Key card to room and big lockers so security great. Easy tram or S-bahn ride into town, but a fair walk, about 25 mins. Staff very helpful and helped me whenever I needed. Not much atmosphere as it is more like a hotel rather than a backpacker/traveller's hostel. Very clean, no issues at all. Fairly good value for Munich, but not offering a huge amount out of the ordinary for the money. Small shower and toilet room for 8 people just okay, nothing special, and the kitchen is small. Lockers good.

404 Hostel

Cologne, Germany

Security great as given keys to room and house, with free padlock to a big chest to keep your things. Location was ok, a short metro ride to town, but a fair walking distance. Staff is just one guy who lives in the house and he was great and helpful. Atmosphere pretty good as there is a great common area with music. He keeps the place very clean, and with a good shower, guitars, full kitchen, safety chest and comfy beds, I'd say it was great value. Wifi off at 1am seemed odd for night people.

Thank you for the review. Wifi off provides good sleep for those who don't want to be disturbed by hacking on the Laptop in the middle of the night, as wifi is in every room. Too many complaints about those kind of guests in the past.

Euphemia Old City Canal Zone

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Good lockers (deposit needed for key, but fine.) Location handy, right in town with shops (and coffee shops) very near. Staff very helpful every day, they were great. No atmosphere really as 'common area' small and not many gather there as it closes at 10:30-11pm. So not a 'party' hostel by any means. Very clean. Good price for central Amsterdam. Shower good, but shared amongst 10, and no kitchen, area except a microwave, which was a bit annoying on a budget but still, better than nothing.

Brussels 2GO4 Quality Hostel

Brussels, Belgium

well it was a strange one. Nowhere near enough lockers so I had to put my stuff under my bed. Toilet light not working and not fixed even when room mate complained. Weird system where reception closing (11-4) also means the closure of kitchen/common room. And, although everything else super clean, dry blood on my sheet. grim. However, it was in a great location, the bed was comfy, my room mates were great, the price was (relatively) good and the keycard was handy. So make your own mind up...!

Hostel Splendido Sibenik

Sibenik, Croatia

perfect location, friendly staff and comfy beds with big lockers with keys provided. only one bathroom for potentially a lot of people which can be awkward but it was no real issue. nice kitchen and terrace area with the bar directly below, so perfect for having a drink with other guests.

Dubrovnik Backpackers Club

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Family-run hostel, and a brilliant family too. welcoming, everything is simple and made easy for you. good, if a bit small, lockers and good luggage room, kitchen, social are (inside and out) and showers. everything perfect, and good breakfast from Milka! Very sociable hostel, met lots of new friends. Outside area brilliant for meeting people and having a great time, but also 10pm curfew is enforced to respect neighbours and those earlier to bed. 30min walk to old town but easy bus, Great stay.
