The staff is great. We tried more than 4-5 different hostels in Toronto (incl. three of the five best rated) and this one is clearly the best value for money you can get. It is also well located, five minutes walk from the St Andrew subway station.

This hostel is well located however I would recommend people looking for a nice place to stay to walk away and find a better deal elsewhere. It is basically impossible to sleep well in this hostel, not only because of the dirt, but also because of the constant noise as you can perfwctly hear people from the other rooms just as they stand next to you. We spent one night there and it was definitely our last one there. The atmosphere is also pretty bad.

I am sorry that your experience was negative. We searched the room you were staying in and could not find any dirt. I live in the hostel and find it remarkably quiet considering it is right down-town. Just in case we do have free earplugs at reception.
