After visiting 30 countries I think I finally found the perfect hostel. Lets see, great staff, great beds (with power outlet and light), couch in the dorm room, private and very clean bathrooms and a well stocked kitchen. Five minute walk from the main train station and you can hang out in the reception area after check out and drink free coffee until your train leaves. Lockers in the rooms and hallways, common areas with computers, great wifi and luggage storage. They are doing hostels right.
Great if you are just looking for a place to crash wih good bathrooms and a bar. The mega dorm was packed but we still got a good night sleep and the location is really close to the S-Bahn. Good value in Berlin but wouldnt recommend the big dorms for first time travellers or people without good locks for their stuff.
While the location is fantastic the room was really small and had no windows. Slept without my blankets on and woke up covered in bites? Didn't seem like bed bugs but definitely got eaten by something. I didn't like the bathroom being downstairs but the staff were helpful and the price wasn't bad.
The location and room were fine but no wifi only in the common area was annoying. Breakfast was average and we were really disappointed after the staff stopped us late one night to say we hadn't paid. They had charged us for two out of three nights but we had paid the city tax for all three. They had no receipt or anything to prove that we had under paid and we had to find the receipt ourselves to sort out the problem. Not our mistake but we were made to feel like we were trying to rip them off.
This was an awesome b
We were really happy with our stay here. The hostel was easy to get to via tram and the rooms were a good size with individual lockers. Bathrooms could have been better maintained but overall good value, modern and clean.
Great location in the middle of all the bars and restaurants. It may be a little loud at night for some with live music downstairs but it had a good atmosphere and the staff were really helpful. Big rooms and a full kitchen. Wifi worked well.
Although the location and price were great, the issues we had checking in let this hostel down. The self check in system is fine as our train was late and we arrived at 9pm. However it took us an hour of trying to get hold of the owner to find our beds. The second dorm room had a sign on it saying private and I had to wake people up to find our beds eventually. Some very small changes would make this hostel a much better stay.
I think I could have moved into this guesthouse permanently and redirected my mail after only the first night. Not only are the rooms brilliant, the hosts go over and above to make you feel right at home. Regardless of the very manageable walk to town (and ridiculously cheap taxi service for those who shun exercise), this guesthouse is well situated with a great outdoor area, awesome kitchen and living area and delicious coffee every day. We were more than a little sad to leave.
We had a private room for two nights and were really happy with the hostel. The staff were helpful and gave us some great restaurant recommendations. Disappointed that we couldn't lock our own door though. All areas were clean and the shower is awesome.
The location of this hostel is awesome and it took us only 20 minutes to walk there from the bus/train station. All the major attractions of the old town are within 5 minutes and the neighbourhood is nice and safe. We were upgraded to a private room free of charge and the staff were very helpful. This is great value budget accommodation so don't expect new and modern just nice clean rooms with all the basics. Great affordable restaurants are all in a two block radius of the hostel.
This was a wonderful little guesthouse with modern rooms and great facilities. The kitchen has free tea and coffee and there are flat screen tvs in the bedrooms. We stayed in the second part of the hostel and had the place to ourselves for four awesomely quiet nights - just what we needed after an exhausting overnight train. The location looks a little frightful from the outside but the rooms have been done up nicely and there are several locked doors between you and the street. Highly recommend
We were only in Thessaloniki for the night on our way to Istanbul and this hostel was the perfect stopover. A straight walk down the Main Street from the train station made it easy to find. The room was large with a nice bathroom, TV and great bed, the noise from the street was not too bad and the staff were really helpful in organising our bus for the following day. Good wifi most of the time and close to plenty of nice restaurants.
Don't be put off by the fact that this is considered a questionable area of Athens, most people are lovely and there are plenty of Police around anyway. The hotel is amazing value for money and the room was great. The bathroom drain did make for an unpleasant olfactory experience but this was really the only complaint we had. The staff were not helpful unfortunately and neglected to mention we had arrived on a national holiday and everything would be closed. Probably still worth it for the price
After three months on the road walking into 6 small rooms was like being welcomed home. The staff are fantastic, they taught us to make coffee, arranged a pizza/beer night and helped us with our outings around Naples. The atmosphere is great with an awesome common area and kitchen to hang out in. The rooms are big with only a few beds and all three bathrooms were always clean and had plenty of hot water. These guys are doing hostels right.
Can't say enough about how awesome the staff are here. The breakfast is fantastic and the rooms are good if not a bit cramped. The walk to the subway is a good 15 minutes but beware of Roman buses. Loved our stay and felt well looked after.
While it is a 15 minute walk from the nearest Metro, this hostel is worth the walk. The staff were fantastic and gave us lots of good information about the sights, places to eat and transport. The breakfast is really good and sitting in the garden soaking up the sun each morning over coffee was an ideal start to the day. The room we were in had a good bathroom but was a little small. Would definitely be back.
If you want to stay in the heart of Venice and avoid transport costs this is a good hostel. You will be compromising on things like atmosphere and service though. The office hours are very short, my husband and I were put in different rooms and everyone is kicked out of the common area around eight. The wifi is terrible. The rooms are large with clean bathrooms but you arent getting much for your money.
The distance to the train station made this hostel a great location for us. It has all the basics and the staff spoke good English. Wifi was good but had trouble finding places to charge electronics.
We stayed in a private double with a nice en suite. The location is great and it is easy to find on the Main Street. The staff were helpful and let us store our luggage until our train on the afternoon we left. The breakfast was really nice but just basic bread and coffee. Very clean, would definitely recommend.
We had an awesome stay in San Sebastián and it was thanks to this great hostel. The room was large and really nice with a shared bathroom that was kept perfectly clean. We had a delicious cooked breakfast each morning and the owner gave us great recommendations for where to eat and drink in town. The location means you walk out the door and into the middle of all the shops which was ideal. Good wifi and they were kind enough to look after our gear for the afternoon before we left.
The atmosphere here is awesome and we enjoyed relaxing with a beer and listening to live music in the bar at night. The rooms are really big with lock boxes for your gear, reading lights and power points for every bed. The location is really close to a subway stop making it easy to get around the city. Breakfast was good and the staff were great, definitely everything you could ask for in a hostel including lots of washing machines.
This hostel is nice and close to the main attractions and we even walked there from the station. Had trouble getting our gear up the tiny spiral staircase but the room was large with good sized lockers. The showers are a mission to get to but no other complaints.
Great hostel for a good price with nice rooms and wonderful ensuite bathrooms. The location is nice and close to the main attractions without being right in the middle of town. Only issue was the copious amount of mould on the wall and ceiling in an otherwise clean and modern dorm room. Surely this is something which can be easily cleaned and I hope the owners do something about it. Awesome stay nonetheless.
Awesome hostel/hotel and great if you are a newbie traveller. Rooms and bathrooms are cleaned everyday and the facilities are awesome. The massive size of the place makes it harder to socialise the way you would in a smaller hostel but the staff are great and the train is a two minute walk away. Make sure you go to Burgermeister.
We had a great stay in a 6 bed dorm here. The walk from the subway took about 10-15 minutes with our packs and there are some nice restaurants out on the Main Street. Dumpling night was awesome and the hostel helped us organise a trip out to The Great Wall which we were really happy with. Outside toilets in winter weren't ideal but the heaters inside them were good. Big lockers in the rooms were also handy.
Great value for money and fantastic staff. After the first night we booked another four with them. Large modern rooms with hot water and good wifi. The staff frequently offered to make us (free) coffee when they saw us and helped us pick a great tour to Halong Bay in our price range. Breakfast was delicious fresh fruit and bread with jam. Loved our stay.
We were really disappointed to be downgraded from the room we had booked to one with no AC or hot water. Being on the 5th floor meant it was too hot to sleep at night and carrying our luggage up was hard work. The staff were otherwise helpful, spoke good English and the hostel was in a good location. I would probably pay more to stay somewhere nicer if I went back to Cambodia. The wifi was only accessible from the floor below us.
We had a great time in Siem Reap and the staff at Panda Guest House were really good with organising a day trip to Angkor Wat as well as our onward travel to Phnom Penh both of which we were happy with. The room was a good size and clean. The walk to Pub street was five to ten minutes and we were given good recommendations for places to eat. Will definitely be back.
