It was a great hostel, nice big and clean. Excellent location. Staff were always helpful. Lots of pamphlets on what to do and see. Was very noisy though on the nights the tour companies topdeck and contiki stayed, walls very thin.

only 2 small complaints. I don't like being put in a disabled room when im not disabled, its frustrating to not have a normal bathroom. Also the breakfast was not looked over by staff so if you came down after 9am there was hardly any toast and butter left and it was first in to get what was left and it wasn't refilled even though still another hour left of breaky

Hi, thank for your feedback from your stay at Hoax. We do apologise for your frustration with the disabled bathroom, was this mentioned to our reception team? We'd be more than happy to help switch your room around and this situation could have been solved quite easily. You now know for next time ;) In regards to breakfast, we've actually just updated our breakfast options to give a better experience! Head down to Hopskotch this week and see for yourself! - The Hoax Team

I would NOT reccomend this hostel at all. It is near impossible to get any sleep as whole buildings walls are thin, from 9pm-5am all u can hear is drunks in streets screaming, singing and fighting. U can here music playing non stop all night from a close by club. Its overly priced for the basic bare old rooms, its dirty, if lucky room is slighlty cleaned if someone moves out, which isnt always daily. They advertise free toast all day, not true only available at breakfast.

We agree with you to an extent - a backpackers' hostel probably isn't the best place to be getting some peace and quiet!! We say if you cant beat 'em, join 'em - absolutely love a good street-fight after a hard day's work :) Jokes aside, we regret to inform you all that we have indeed stopped our free toast all day, but it is free all morning, and we'll turn a blind eye if we happen to notice stray slices peeping out of your pockets ;)

Was plesently surprised, we had looked at the photos and thought it looked a little run down nothing special. Our room was great, we had tea/coffee faclities in the room, free towls and room was very clean. Were greated with free oranges on arrival. Location perfect, 10min or less to main train station, in heart of new town, 5min walk to old town, Tesco restuarants. Will def recommend to friends. Only complaint is the poor kitchen facilities and breakfast was only a bag of cornflakes

I can not understand how this won Hostel of the year for Ireland, it was the WORST hostel i stayed in ever. room only had 3 lockers for 4 beds. We had no hot water for 2 days, which sucks in winter. The shower head pointed over shower bottom so when u opened shower door to turn on water went out door and onto bathroom floor. Bathroom flooded 2 out 4 days there. Breakfast was poor, only toast, juice, tea coffee, cereal is not hard to offer. Staff was nice but terrible rooms.

Hi there, Thanks for choosing us. You should have told us about the water as we can boost the boilers which will give you plenty of water with-in 10 minutes. You stayed with us for five days in total so couldn't have been all bad. You even left and came back again after 5 a 5 day tour. Strange indeed. Breakfast is free, but you can have as much as you like, and your 4 bed room has an ensuite. Try us again some time, but let us know of any issues and we will fix them.
