a winner in Piura! ended up staying an extra night which says a lot because there is nothing to do in Piura (except eat delicious ceviche! try la tomasita) there's also a chifa restaurant (Chinese food) across the street called wing lung if you get in late. very cheap and decent! the room was very clean, shower hot, big flat screen TV (bonus), a/c and comdortable beds. breakfast was great eggs, bread, coffee/tea and a fruit smoothie. its about 6 soles to take a taxi to the bus station.
great find, although getting in late I was a little sketched out by the taxi ride through the dark alleys. the staff were wonderful they helped us find an atm, something to eat and an airport transfer for 5:30am the next morning! the room was clean, the double bed is definitely a double and not a queen, thankfully we're not big people! left too early for breakfast unfortunately, wifi was strong! all in all good.
loved this place, the staff were very accommodating and friendly. the room was clean, the facilities were wonderful, the water is hot but you need to keep the shower flow low so the heater has a chance to warm it up. it was a relaxing oasis in La Paz. room tip if you're not a smoker the room beside the upstairs lounge doesn't allow you to open your window. all the smoke goes into your room.
Still in reno mode (had a fire so the restaurant is closed ie no breakfast incl) so the bathrooms are almost done. Only complaint was that there never seemed to be enough toilet paper. Rooms are simple and tidy, kitchen good size, staff are super nice. If you're a light sleeper I'd bring some ear plugs though because it's all wood and sound travels.
not a bad place if you're looking to meet people and super amazing staff! I found it to be ok, cleanliness could be improved and there are only two toilets that have the showers in them so if you need to go during prime shower time you're out of luck. wasn't a problem for me because the hot water stopped working for my stay. silver lining? did I mention the staff were awesome? I personally liked Margouya the best out of the three hostels I stayed at.
nice hostel with really good lockers. wifi works, breakfast included, a good amount of showers. lots of rules posted but I guess common sense and courtesy are not that common?
good hostel with a lot of guests! only stayed for one night on our way back through town because Nakel Yenu was booked up. wifi cuts out every night from 10-11pm because of the provider which made for an awkward skype call! not a big deal but maybe they could tell people. breakfast was $6 a person so we just to town and got some pastries for $2 total. it's clean and warm. shower is hot. close to town and only a 15minute walk to the bus station.
good price and great location. showers are hot. don't expect WiFi or to stay if you're Israeli
great spot, very nice staff, free breakfast and decent WiFi

Have stayed there two separate times and both times felt at home. What a wonderful, welcoming atmosphere. Really appreciate how relaxed, comfortable and cozy it is.
Nice hostel, great price! Location is pretty good only four blocks from the bus station and near restaurants/stores. Breakfast is OK (free!) And there is a nice area to hang out in the backyard. Shower had hot water and functioning toilets. Air conditioning in the rooms works. Beds could be more comfortable but if you are only there one night it's fine. Did I mention how good the price is?
Really good location, excellent front desk staff. The rooms are small, a/c old, bathrooms clean and lockers/room safe are nonfunctional in my opinion. Breakfast is pretty good. They clean the room every day and overall really good but it is expensive bc of location.
Really amazing staff who do their best to help you out. They give great advice and it makes all the difference. The room is clean with good facilities but they could improve on things like actual lockers or safes in the room and newer air con units so you don't have to wear ear plugs to sleep. Location is good, close to bus stops and the beach. Breakfast is ok, compared to other Che's it could be improved. Price is a bit high for what you get but that's Rio I guess.
Wow, what wonderful staff. They are so genuinely nice and helpful, you can tell they take their jobs seriously and want the hostel to be a success. Every recommendation that Ilhsa made was awesome. It's hard to think that someone can be so right about so many things day after day. The hostel itself is nice, the rooms are cleaned daily, the bathrooms are tidy and the kitchen while small does the job. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Also super close to the bus station!
Really beautiful hostel, nice staff and love the pods. Plugs in the pods and lockers which is a huge plus. If the cleaners stepped it up a notch this place would be 100%! Just little things like having to ask for toilet paper, hair on the floor, that sort of thing. Easy things to improve and you have a perfect hostel.
This is the only hostel where I felt comfortable enough to not wear sandals in the showers after traveling for 1 year and 3 months. That's a lot of hostels so hopefully that tells you how clean this place is. Beds are comfy, atmosphere is very chill. Was just what I needed after being on the go for the past few months. Somewhere quiet to relax and sleep in. Bring mosquito repellent though, no nets.
Doesn't get much better than this! What a well thought out hostel. Plugs in the lockers, bunk beds bolted to the walls, lots of slats on the beds to hang your stuff, comfy lounge area, outdoor seating, great security, and so much more. The staff are very friendly and most speak great English. What a great atmosphere too! One of the best hostels I've stayed in during my 1 year of travelling around the world. Good work!
The Trip Hostel is like a charismatic ex-boyfriend, you're charmed by his carefree, pot-smoking attitude and fun ways so you overlook certain things. Like an ex-boyfriend, this hostel is good for a one night stand when you need somewhere convenient, cheap and guaranteed to be a good time, but you know he's not marriage material.
Everything is pretty good at this hostel. My only complaint would be all our stuff that went missing. An entire toiletry bag just disappeared. Annoying to say the least! My bed was also taken apart and the things on it thrown out by the cleaning staff.
Would have given a higher score except for the bed bugs in room 4. Everything else was fine but that really ruined Colonia for me.
Well done Viejo Telmo, keep up the good work. Enjoyed our stay there. Hopefully your staff will be able to converse more in english and you will get more international business. :)
Even though this hostel has almost zero security and the facilities are old and grubby I absolutely loved it here. The location is amazing and the day staff are super nice (some staff are a bit grumpy but I think they are sleep deprived). They could use a couple more fans and some repairs to the bathrooms but if you plan on sightseeing and not hanging out in the hostel then this place is perfect.
Great staff make such a huge difference especially when you need to be rescued from the train station with no money haha! Top notch hostel wish I had stayed an extra night. Easy to meet people, everything is good just wish there were a couple more bathrooms but I always want that.

Nothing to complain about. The price was right, location excellent and they even let us check in early. Didn't spend much time there but it was perfectly fine for one night.
Overall very good hostel. Staff is friendly, facilities are good. Wish there was a place to change in the showers but other than that pretty good.
This hostel would be amazing if the WiFi was better and if the bathrooms had been cleaned every day. With an ensuite and so many people using just one it really needs to be cleaned. The location was amazing though, very convenient with the market and metro station right there.
Amazing location, good facilities and strong WiFi. Did the brewery tour at 11am so didn't make their rafting pub crawl...but rented a boat and did our own which was awesome! Wish I stayed longer.
While the resort is quite nice and reasonably priced we did encounter bed bugs in the long house. My partner was bitten but thankfully we didn't take them with us. Was quite surprised for such a high quality establishment.
I really liked this hostel and ended up booking a couple more nights once we arrived. It was a bit more pricey than some others but well worth it. That said while we were there the a/c had broken in one room but they quickly had it fixed before bed time (efficient!). The showers were hot (bonus!) but they did flood quite easily as they are stalls lined next to each other and the drain was clogged so you ended up stepping in everyone's dirty shower water. If that's fixed then I highly recommend.
Nothing too crazy, basic hostel with basic facilities. The staff go out of their way which was really nice. Feels more like you're staying at a friend's place than a hostel which is fine by me. Perfect for one night given the cost. Might not be the best for long term stays since it is a bit small and lots of stairs, but if you're fit and looking for a deal you've found it.
The staff are fantastic I'll say that for sure. Was a bit disappointed with the hostel overall given the rave reviews. The facilities were decent but they could definitely use some more common areas. Maybe clean the patio a little more so there aren't as many flies. Overall it was a solid 7.5/10!
Nice guest house, accommodating staff and quiet location but a bit pricey. Overall enjoyable stay.
This is probably the best hostel we've ever stayed in. The staff was friendly, the showers were hot, the food was good, the beer cheap and the atmosphere was great without trying to be. Well done to Driess and all the staff for creating a wonderful and inviting getaway.
