I reached there during off-peak season and the hostel manager was kind enough to bump me up into a private room! However, they charged me quite a bit for breakfast and they should have informed me of the price beforehand. It also appears to be part of a residency and not a full-fledged hostel.

It's a brand new hostel and Nathan, the New Zealander running the place, is working hard to make it a top-notch one!

Seems to attract an interesting group of people and it's right in the heart of Besiktas which is much quieter than nearby Taksim.

The receptionists, especially the female ones, completely do not understand the importance of a smile. All they care about is getting through their shift and chatting with their boyfriends. I don't think they have ever travelled abroad and therefore never felt the importance of a friendly voice at a hostel. It can make all the difference to a trip and is one of the top reasons why I like to frequent hostels. Unlike the staff at hotels, they usually understand a budget traveller's needs.
