Red Carabao Community

Manila, Philippines

Had a great time here. Planned on staying only 2 nights which turned into 5. Great community feel to the hostel, staff went out of their way to organise and motivate travellers to go on day trips and family dinners. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend it if you are antisocial or just in Manila to transit to another destination. But if you're wanting to see the real Manila, highly recommend it. Stay for a few days and you'll really appreciate this amazing city. Rooftop chill out spot is ace!

Moalboal Backpacker Lodge

Moalboal, Philippines

Nice place to stay in moalboal. Ask if you can get the upstairs dorm instead of the small 4 bed dorm on the bottom, it gets pretty humid in there. Friendly and helpful staff. Would be happy to stay here again

Charisma Resort

Siquijor, Philippines

Huge dorm room. There was an issue with the bathroom flooding , so the staff allowed us to use one of the bathrooms in the bungalows. On site restaurant is pricey compared to places out on the streets, but still affordable and portion sizes are large. Very friendly staff and service. Pool is a nice touch. Great place to chill out for a few days

Pink Manila Hostel

Manila, Philippines

Overall it was a pleasant stay. No hot water in the showers, but not really a problem since Manila is so hot. Gritty part of town, but that's Manila for you. I was in an antisocial mood due to travelling and just wanted to rest, but every time I went downstairs there were people by the pool, chatting and socialising, the common areas were very conducive for that. Lots of food options near by. Can't complain for the cost, if you want 5 star luxury stay at the Marriott. Perfectly fine for $10

Lupta Hostel

Phuket Patong Beach, Thailand

Excellent hostel. I've stayed in a few, this is one of the best. Super clean, friendly staff, close to the action. I wish more hostels were like this one. Thanks for the amazing hospitality!

Raizzy's Guesthouse

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Disappointed in my stay here. Arrived at night, staff were very slow to check me in despite there being 3 of them at reception. Room was clean, safety boxes under the beds. Only 2 toilets and 2 showers for the entire top floor which would create log jams. Bathrooms and showers have visible mould. Good location, close to public transport, Chinatown for shopping and food. Lady who works there is one of the rudest people I have encountered. Wouldn't stay here again when I'm back in KL

Koh Phangan, Thailand

Good location, within walking distance from the ferry port. Got everything you need, nothing you don't. Free shuttle every night to their affiliate hostel if you want to party. Icy cold air conditioning. Close to shops and restaurants. Would stay here again if I'm ever back down this way

Saphaipae Hostel

Bangkok, Thailand

Great place to stay. Clean, great breakfast, secure, close to public transport. This is my home away from home

Rinny Hostel

Koh Samui, Thailand

Nice, clean and comfortable. Right on the main strip. Only suggestion would be a fridge, but I enjoyed my stay never the less.

Cheeky Monkeys Hostel

Koh Samui, Thailand

I booked a twin room. Excellent value for money. Like a lot of people have said, not the biggest rooms in the world, but you don't go to Koh Samui to stay in your room. Rooftop bar and pool are so cool, super friendly staff as well, and sometimes they put on a free buffet! Will definitely stay here again when I am back in Samui.

Balkan Han Hostel

Sarajevo, Bosnia And Herzegovina

Great location, only 5 minutes from the old town. Unkas (the owner) is a friendly guy, welcomed me with a nice shot of rakija which warmed me right up on the cold autumn day. Big room, even got a free upgrade to a double bed which I was extremely grateful for. Would definitely stay here again

Hostel Villa Angelina Old Town

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Nice location within the walls, just a word of warning, its at the top of a very steep set of steps so don't make the mistake I did and enter from the side because carrying my pack up all those stairs was quite challenging! Cozy rooms, authentic to what the locals would be staying in. Wifi was a little patchy but could have just been because so many people were on it at once. I'd be happy to stay there again

Split Backpackers

Split, Croatia

Excellent location, short walk from the main train and bus station and near the town center too. Big rooms. Comfy beds and reading lights and power outlets at every bed was a welcome sight. Would definitely stay here again

We are glad to hear about the positive experience and we will try to continue to accommodate our guest as best is possible. In future If the road takes you back to Croatia you should come to see us! Neno

Chillout Hostel Zagreb

Zagreb, Croatia

Would have liked to have rated them higher. Booked nights here, on the third night I was relaxing in my room when one of the staff members came in, was suprised to see me and quite rudely demanded what I was doing there. Went to the manager downstairs, there had been a computer error, according to them I was only meant to stay for 2 nights. Manager seemed more annoyed than apologetic, moved me to another room but said to me " I hope these other guys don't mind" like I was the inconvenience!

David Hasselhostel

Budapest, Hungary

Booked a stay here purely on the name alone, could not have been happier with the result. I have stayed in hostels with staff that are very good at there job, but always remain employees. The staff here went out of their way to make sure I enjoyed my stay in Budapest, they really seem more like old mates and not workers. Piece of advice though, do NOT challenge Lloyd to any sort of physical challenge, he will win, he will then expect you to buy him a drink, and then he wont let you forget it!

Big rooms, bar for socialising. Couldn't quite figure out the locker key card but some others had no problem, I think it was my technique. Great breakfast, everything you would ever need to start the day right. Wifi was good. Would stay here again

Hostel ELF

Prague, Czech Republic

Bit of a walk from the town square, so stumbling home drunk from the touristy parts of town can take 30 mins. However, the part of town where it is, is nice and interesting in its own right, more locals and less tourists. Facilities were good, only complaint would be the shower, its one of those where you have to keep pushing the button to keep the flow of water. Buffet breakfast was nice
