Hostel Krumlov House

Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic

The most famous hostel in Cesky Krumlov, and indeed very well organised (e.g., quick responses over e-mail, people were native speakers of English, they have lists of things for you to do, wifi worked fine, etc.). The hostel itself is very nice as well - an older house, but relatively modern interior, loads of space to socialise, nice big kitchen. There were no bunk beds and that was nice too. All in all a very neat hostel, that I would recommend to people. Short walk from the centre.

Hostel Merlin

This hostel is right in the old town, next to the river - its major advantage. Other than that fairly normal hostel facilities incl wifi, but no real common room. This meant it was hard to meet up with people here, and no real place to hang out in between doing activities in Krumlov. The showers are not great because they go for literally 5 seconds and then you have to press them again. This hostel wasn't that much fun, just a cheap place to sleep. (Note that the lockers don't work). Good value.

This was my favourite hostel in Krumlov! Skipper and Olga are super friendly and fun! This hostel felt more like someone's home: it's an older, beautiful house, with nice spacious rooms, and a really nice covered deck out the back, with a view on the river. Great atmosphere. The wifi works best on the deck but is fine over all. There are two toilets and one (non-hostel) shower, and I never found an occupied bathroom. It's a short and easy walk from town. I would definitely go back here!!

This is more like a hotel for backpackers: clean bathrooms & toilets (unisex), no real kitchen, a big lounge and reception.. I had a good enough sleep though, I was in a 10-bed female dorm, and every bed had a reading light with curtains, which gave a little bit of privacy. I had to leave early so missed out on breakfast. Good wifi reception in the dorm. Bit further out of town though, and a bit more expensive. Still, not bad. Didn't really like the staff much. Oh and prepare to pay for extras.

Dover Castle Hostel and Bar

The location of this hostel is superb, and the value for money is pretty good as well. I stayed in a 6-dorm and had a good enough sleep (not too noisy), though the heater was cranked to the max (even the 2nd day, after I had told staff about this problem). Wifi only in the kitchen or hallway (not in your room). The breakfast is basic and serves its purpose. The only real downside of this hostel are the showers: one locked room w/ 2 showers PER FLOOR, & showers w/ a press button: 10secs of water.
