At £4 a night on a sunny island you can't beat the price! The hostel was peaceful, it was what we needed to relax and the staff were very helpful and kind. Cleanliness could have been better as the cat was sleeping on a bed in the dorm the sheet didn't get changed but no one was staying in the bed so wasn't a problem. It was close to two beaches and has a lovely rooftop garden to relax in. The internet here is excellent, the best we have experienced in china so far. www.amateurbackpackers.com
The Hostel is in an excellent location and is close to public transport. The Hostel is big and can accommodate loads of people, however, the common room/kitchen was small in comparison to this. They did have two excellent outdoor balconies to relax in. There are no tours on offer or food served but they do offer a lot of information about sights and things to do around the city. Overall this Hostel was good Value for money if you consider the prices of Hong Kong. www.amateurbackpackpackers.com
The Hostel was in a great location and the atmosphere here was excellent as the common room/dining area was well set up to allow people to meet and talk to one another. the hostel was full of students which made it more fun. A downside was no visible food menu and a limited amount of drinks, although we were able to bring food in from outside which was nice. It was very close to some great places to eat including street food. The hostel was clean throughout. www.amateurbackpackers.com
We only stayed here for one night but the staff seemed to enjoy their jobs and were very helpful. They had nice garden space and outdoor decking area which i imagine in the summer is an awesome place to hang out considering your in the middle of Chengdu. They have a wide variety of DVDs too if you get bored, although one that we tried did stop after about 20 minutes as it was too scratched. Overall a very nice place, we stayed in a private double with ensuite, the bed was very big.
The staff were very helpful. They helped arrange a Panda Volunteer Trip and helped us book a couple of flights in china free of charge. The rooms were clean and confortable. We stayed in a 4 bed mixed dorm, the beds had a curtain to surround them helping with privacy and there were 4 lockers for each person staying there, padlocks were provided. ( I highly recommend the Panda Volunteer Trip)
The moment we got there we were made to feel at home. The staff are extremely helpful, you can tell they enjoy their job. We fancied a change from staying in dorms for a few nights we stayed in a Double Room, it was like a hotel room and the shower was excellent. We didn't see the dorm rooms but heard they had heated floors! Every night there were activities planned, and the Terracotta Warriors Tour was well worth the money. Anyone going to Xi,an should stay here. LeiLei should get a pay rise!
If you compare it to a lot of hostels then this hostels cleanliness was average, however, the bathroom was poor. We didn't have hot water for a day but a staff member was very helpful in sorting this out as quickly as possible, which was nice. The position of the hostel was excellent, its about a 5 minute walk away from the forbidden city and Tiananmen Square. The hostel was cheap we stayed in a dorm and if i remember correctly it was about £4 a night so overall was good value for money.
This hostel was as good as a hotel especially when you compare the price of this hostel to any hotel in tokyo. We stayed in a mixed dorm and it was incredibly clean and quiet. The facilities are excellent and we enjoyed the option to cook our own food when we wanted using their communal kitchen. It is positioned excellently to get to the rest of tokyo. I would recommend this hostel or others in the chain to anyone who wants to see tokyo. www.amateurbackpackers.com
