Mellow Yellow Villa

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

We lived in an 8 pers. dorm, but the first night, there was 9, who slept there! WTF? The breakfast was an hour late! Small and dirty kitchen. Our bed was cleaned and stuff put away, because the staff don't know where people sleep. Smoke gets easily into the rooms from the bar area. A lot of noise. Nice bathrooms + breakfast + location. DON'T EVER STAY HERE!! The staff is the most ruthless and ignorant people ever, except one britsh guy. We didn't get one good night out of our 4 nights!

Hot water most of the time, good breakfast, a lot of space for everyone in the 10 pers. dorm, nice bed. Good location, close to shopping and food.

La Posada del Kuraka

Arequipa, Peru

We stayed here for 7 nights and we loved it. The place has a lovely owner, Jose, who will do anything for you. Rest of the staff is nice too. Jose lets us move room without doubt. The wifi is OK, but the computer is good and fast. Always hot water. The rooms are basic but nice, and some have TVs. There is a small kitchen, where you can make the basic cooking. There is a cozy roofterrace, with nice views over the city and to the El Misti volkano. Would absolutely stay here again!

Sol Atacama Hostel

San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

Worst place ever. The owner has a really bad attitude and seems unprofessional. No sleep, a lot of noise. Not cool if you are going out on a tour 4am. Cats in beds, no space in dorm, nasty kitchen, cold or REALLY hot shower, slow wifi in a small area Good things: Located near bus terminal, clean toilets I highly recommend to find another place!

Hostal Al Yaras

Elqui Valley, Chile

We stayed for 2 nigths. Easy to find. Good breakfast, Richard (the owner) offers you eggs and homemade yoghurt if you want. There's a sweet little dog. It is possible to buy dinner for 3500 or 5500, which Richard makes himself just after your wish. Nice, big bed. A lot of blankets because it is cold at night. Basic rooms. 400 m to the local bus. Hot water. Richard is always there id you need it. He Can drive you around for an amount of money. We loved it and will absolutte recommend it.

Landay Hostel

Santiago, Chile

Easy to find, good location. Charming hostel. Basic but poor breakfast, the staff do not fill up by them self. Good kitchen, but can't be used after 5pm. Friendly staff, who try to be helpful, but they don't talk together, which can give a lot of confusing. The cleaning is there but is not satisfying. No landry service. Smoking from the common outside area goes into the room. No toilet paper. Hot shower. Slow computers. Someone took our food from the common fridge! :(

Green Grass Hostel

Sao Paulo, Brazil

Friendly staff, very small hostel, small bathrooms, good breakfast but its served in a hot room, so milk/juice/yoghurt etc. are getting warm. A lot of noise from the street. Good location near metro, supermarked and restaurants. Easy to find, good description to find it. Sometimes hot water.

Pousada Favelinha

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Lovely breakfast with homemade juice and a lot chooses for the bread. Friendly staff. Patrick (the owner) high/drunk, we don't know, but he was a nice guy. Impossible to find on your own, ask someone, they are helpful. Located in a safe favela. Good busconnections to the town, take bus 006 or 007 just outside the favela. Hot water. Clean, but could be better. If you want the best view of Rio, stay here! Highly recommended.
