This hostel is more like a relaxed bnb feel to it. Gerry the owner, is a great owner/manager and provides a wealth of information about the town, good places to eat and the facilities such as the pool, rooms and communal areas are spotless and clean. The room itself is very large and with the option of air cond, but you probably dont need the air cond as there are two fans in the room. Excellent location, close to the action of the cafe st and central park. Gerry can also help with shuttles etc.
Monica is a wonderful host who provides a really amazing (generous) breakfast and is very friendly. The bnb has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and Monica is very helpful and has a great amount of knowledge about Leon and Nicaragua. We were fortunate to have met her daughter and father during our stay, it only added to the family feel of the place. The bathroom is small and could be cleaned once a day, but other then that we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend!
Large rooms, very rustic hostel in the jungle. Close to the highway so bring ear plugs to sleep as the trucks etc can be noisy. It was raining when we stayed here so there were a lot of mosquitos. Bring insect repellant. Close to the ruins and beach and about 2km out of the town. Toilets and shower block are unisex and only shower curtains are used so not much privacy. On the plus side the sons are lovely and the cooked breakfast is just amazing. If you like the outdoors stay here.
There was no wifi in the outside ensuite rooms and the water pressure from the shower was a bit dodgy. However the staff were helpful and the cook was really great; having two hot meals a day included was great for your travellers staying there!
