Vila Veselova

Ljubljana, Slovenia

Really nice hostel just 5 minutes walk into everything you need to see in town. Huge rooms with nice big lockers to store bags. Bathrooms and rooms nice and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful, would definitely recommend staying here.

Nice hostel with all the makings of being a great hostel but was let down on a lot of things. Slightly out of town which is not a problem, nice big terrace for eating, drinking and meeting people which was really good. No common room for poor weather means having to hang out in rooms or the (very small) kitchen when raining. No system for labelling food in fridge means there is no room for food and half of it has gone off. The beds are squeezed into tiny rooms. Staff try hard though.

Apartments & Rooms

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Nice room in a good location in Dubrovnik, only 5 minutes walk to the Pile gate of the old town. The bed was nice and big, fresh clean sheets, and there are 2 bathrooms for the 4 bedrooms to share so no issues with getting a shower. Nice little terrace to sit on, and it is very close to the beach. Wifi not great but works well on terrace. Early checkin was a bonus too.

GlobArt Hostel

Krakow, Poland

We booked 2 beds in an 8 bed room and did not get the top and bottom bunks of the same bed. Lockers were tiny, couldn’t even fit our camera bag in it (so pretty useless for valuables). The ‘free washing’ machine was broken, and had issues getting washing done. No cooking facilities to speak of. Stupid key/security policy so doorbell goes off all night. Not a great vibe, beds are incredibly noisy. Showers have no lock. Great location but could be better.

Warsaw Downtown Hostel

Warsaw, Poland

This was a really nice hostel. Amazing staff, great common areas and kitchen, clean rooms and bathrooms. It could have a couple of improvements however. The lockers were tiny. This means that everyone has to leave their big travel bags out of the lockers, they take up so much room on the floor, under beds etc. Also the bedside chargers are upside down, issues with charging. Staff went to effort but the place was dead, and an odd crowd.

U inn Berlin Hostel

Berlin, Germany

Very well located hostel in Friedrichshaine. The hostel was nice and clean, with a nice lounge area and big kitchen. The vibe was a little strange though, we were there for 2 nights, and did not meet many people to go and eat dinner or have drinks with. Maybe this is because there are no ‘organised’ events in the evenings, or that the hostel does not like alcohol to be brought in, but charges 2euro for a 0.5L beer. The bathrooms were nice and clean, would recommend to stay here.

Home Lisbon Hostel

Lisbon, Portugal

Definitely one of the best hostels we have stayed in. Some of the fantastic features include: free breakfast, awesome common areas with couches, TV, movie, outside patio, computers. Kitchen is good size and has everything you need. The dorm rooms have large lockers on wheels below the beds which means you can put your whole bag in and lock it easily. The below bunks have dark curtains which mean you don’t have to worry about the light. Reading lights and chargers for each bed. THE BEST!

Sant Jordi Hostel Gracia

Barcelona, Spain

Great area, not too touristy. It is full of tapas places, bars, shops. The hostel itself was very nice, one of the better ones we have stayed at in Europe. The common areas downstairs are a good size, and good place for meeting people. The kitchen has good facilities. Bedrooms are very clean and the air-conditioning means a good night sleep. The lockers are key card operated and nice and big. The bathrooms are clean and nice hot showers. Do the pub crawl too!

Kick Ass Hostels

Edinburgh, Scotland

Definitely one of the best hostesl we have stayed at. Obviously it is brand new so this helps. Big dorm rooms, comfy beds and nice donnas. Each bed has a charging port with USB and a reading light. Very secure with keycard access to each room and medium lockers (bring a padlock). Showers very clean and nice bathrooms. The bar is massive, and the food very well priced and a good range. We did the free daily pub crawl and walking tour, enjoyed both very much and a great way to meet people.

Saba'a Hotel

Petra, Jordan

Great guesthouse in Wadi Musa. Very nice rooms with a fan, separate shower area with shower curtain, comfy mattress and pillows. The breakfast is simple but delicious. Gail is a fantastic host, nothing is ever a problem, she helped us organise Petra by Night tickets prior to our arrival, the lunch packs she makes are great and cheap to take into Petra, and the water is cheap also. The guesthouse is situated at the top of the hill, but we had a car so no problem, and only 2JD to take taxi each wa

Randi Homestay

Negombo, Sri Lanka

Very nice home stay. The breakfast is incredible, very nice start to our Sri Lankan holiday. The room was very hot when we were there, but the fan certainly helped. The family are lovely and friendly and they helped us book a tuktuk to the beach, and helped us get the bus to the train station.

Trekkers Home

Kathmandu, Nepal

Good value for money hotel in Thamel. Pretty basic, rooms are not flash, but they are clean and we had a balcony. Can get room service from the restaurant downstairs which is nice. Location is excellent.

We arrived and were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a suite. It was a lovely room and very spacious. The breakfast was nice, and the service excellent. It is a very good location in Thamel, and nice and quiet. Would definitely stay here again.

Wada Hostel in Guilin

Guilin, China

Great hostel, the staff are what make the place. Easy to get to from airport and train station, not in the middle of downtown, but no problems with that. Great location for food (both lunch and dinner), cheap and easy tours. Would definitely stay here agin, thanks Wada girls!

Very nice hostel. Best beds and pillows and room in general of any of the hostels we stayed at in China (we stayed in a double room). Good location, close to the train station, bus station, city wall. The staff at the front desk could have had more recommendations for travellers for dinner and drinks etc, but otherwise no issues at all. Would stay again.

Great hostel with one of the best common areas in any hostel I have stayed. They shared bathroom double rooms were good, rooms are a bit old and could do with a spruce up including some better lighting, but bed and pillows were fine and towels included.

Fully Hong Hostel

Seoul, South Korea

Very hospitable welcome, when we needed a late lunch Tony took us to a little local restaurant for bibimbap - it was delicious. Easy to book DMZ tours. Great tip for dinner in the area. Helped us to make appointment and let us store bags while at DMZ tour.

Nahbi Guest House for Backpackers

Gyeong-ju, South Korea

Good hostel in centre of Gyeongju, helpful maps and they speak english. Underfloor heating made the room nice and warm, and very large bathroom. Towels available on request.
