A good, budget option. Basic but Clean, comfortable and friendly, helpful owners. Could be noisy depending on your neighbours as the walls are very thin. For breakfast go to the place on the other corner opposite Guan Guan cafe (on the left as you walk up towards the main road). Their plain roti with condensed milk for 1Ringet is a great start to the day (or the banana one for 3r...Mmmm).

Ok for the budget traveller - cleanish and relatively quiet at night. However, our air con didn't work - it kept switching itself off (double room next to breakfast area). We told a member of staff, but he couldn't really care less. Other double room's air con drips on your head (apparently), so we didn't change rooms just had to sweat! Coughing, burping of same staff member in hallway was unpleasant, plus, well... it's a bit like a prison. But, it's a perfectly ok budget option.

We really enjoyed our stay here and felt completely at home. The hostel is clean, spacious, has a number of bathrooms, sinks and showers, good air-con and a basic breakfast. However, what really made our stay was the owner, who was probably one of the most genuine guys we've met on our year long travels - friendly, honest, full of good recommendations and with a dry sense of humour. Thank you. P.S. Eat at the Chinese coffee shop over the road, it's great value and really tasty.

Highly recommended hostel. Great location in safe residential neighbourhood but close to metro so you can get anywhere in city very easily. Really helpful reception desk staff. We'd stay here again if we returned to Rio.

La Jangada Hospedaje

Friendly owners and manager and great tours booked through the hostel. However, the place needs a really good clean, the breakfast takes forever, no kitchen use and there's only one nice table to sit at in the front of the hostel, which was often frequented by school kids and moody teenagers...

Casa del Ritmo

Nice, chilled out and friendly place to base yourselves to explore the area or just to relax in. Supermarket and buses to Santa Marta just round the corner. Would definitely recommend. Only one negative - please put some glass windows in the room with air con. It was cool enough but so much energy is wasted as hot air blew through the windows.

The staff here are great. We were warmly welcomed and given lots of information on activities we could do, as well as info and discounts on restaurants. Our private room was fine, comfy bed and clean. Unfortunately the common areas (garden, lounge and kitchen) were pretty dirty during our stay (plus garden in construction). Maybe we were unlucky, but no one seemed to clean up after themselves. The hostel could be great, but we felt there were just too many people crammed into a small space.

Excellent budget option in Arequipa with some of the friendliest and most helpful staff in South America. Rooms were clean with private bathrooms with hot showers (hotter in pm), soap, towels etc, TV. Hostel has a roof terrace which has great views of the city and volcano Misti and is a perfect place for a beer.

Hot showers, a heater in the room and friendly staff. Good budget option in Aguas Callientes, if a little rough around the edges.

I strongly recommend NOT booking this hostel through HostelWorld, as the staff don't appear to understand the concept of a deposit. We were charged the full price of the room, without the 10% deposit we had paid through HostelWorld being deducted from our bill. We paid this full amount as we didn't realise the deposit had not been deducted. When we realised this and tried to get our money back, the staff would not reimburse us. We have therefore paid full price plus a 10% deposit!

Excellent location on Cerro Concepcion really close to the top of the Concepcion ascensor. Helpful staff and comfy beds.

Lovely, clean and rustic hostel. Would definitely recommend. Only issue was we were made to feel slightly awkward as felt we could not join in with the big group of staff/staff friends? that seemed to occupy the best communal areas (and outnumber paying guests) most of the time. If you spoke fluent argentinian Spanish then this would not be an issue... A bit more info on the area would also be helpful.

Good clean double room with air con but very dirty shower (hadn't been cleaned). No real communal area, everyone just sat on steps outside our room smoking. There was a huge tv right outside our door which was left on throughout the night. Apparently there is a roof terrace but only three rooms can access it... Also a bit on the pricey side for a private room.
