Do Step Inn

Vienna, Austria

Very close to the train station but about a 25 minute walk to the center of Vienna. Rooms are small but otherwise decent - comfy bed, clean ensuite, reading light, lockers in rooms, and the staff put our friend in the same room even though she had booked separately. Our room opened outside like a motel room and there was a very nice patio area - would be lovely in warm weather. No breakfast but big kitchen area, and lots of people cook there. Friendly atmosphere

Unity Traveller Hostel

Good location, close to lots of ruin bars. Strange bathroom situation - in our 6-bed room, we had an ensuite with 2 showers and 2 sinks in the same room (no division or privacy! why put 2 showers in when most of the time only 1 will be used?) and a men's and women's toilet down the hall. Clean, except they don't give you a pillow case for your pillow. Big lockers but only 5 available in the 6 bed room. Free breakfast and nice kitchen/living area. One staff member very friendly!

Atlantis Hostel

Krakow, Poland

Good location - about 15 minutes walk to old town center, 2 minutes to Jewish district (Krakow is small though! there are more central hostels). No breakfast but nice comfy kitchen/lounge area, and they have corn flakes and tea/coffee for free - however, someone stole our milk from the fridge! :( Clean and pretty quiet. Staff seemed nice, and they sold salt mine and Auschwitz tours (we went to Auschwitz on our own though, you don't need a tour!). Big free lockers in rooms. Overall good hostel!

Stayokay Amsterdam Zeeburg

Huge modern hostel. Stayed in 7-bed female room. Clean and pretty quiet. Keycards for security but no lockers in room. Wifi didn't work well in bedrooms. Very thin walls between toilet and bedroom. Great free breakfast (7-10am I think). Location could have been better - in a very residential area, needed to take the tram to get to the main part of Amsterdam (tram stop very close though).

Sleep in Heaven

Copenhagen, Denmark

Clean, modern facilities, very nice cafe/bar/hang out area. Location is in a cool neighbourhood, but 10-15 min walk from downtown main area. Stayed on a weekend but fairly quiet. Keycard includes a locker in the bedroom, so quite secure and no need to bring lock. Linen included but breakfast is not included - however, staff are very nice and will give you dishes to use if you want to bring your own food (also hot water if you bring a teabag), close to grocery store. For Copenhagen, a good price.

Regent Hostel

Paris, France

Clean and nice hostel. Stayed in a 4-bed girls room with bathroom ensuite. Small lockers, bring your own lock. Free breakfast with croissants (but not all-you-can-eat), very chill atmosphere with lots of seating. Many young travellers but also some families with kids. Not too loud at night but some noise. Good location - right next to Anvers metro station and short walk to Pigalle (which will be more useful for the tourist!), close to grocery stores. Staff very French aka not overly friendly.

Great hostel! VERY good value for money. Very chill atmosphere, we came as 2 girls but lots of single travellers, seemed friendly and easy to meet people (lots of travellers staying for extended period of time). Definitely not a party hostel which was great, comfy and quiet. Nice big kitchen and lounge. Good wifi. Only issue was that my friend had issues with the hot water in the showers one morning, but otherwise seemed fine. Can book giants causeway tour for discounted price (about 10 pounds)

Smallish rooms with 3-level bunk beds so tight, but just there for one night so it was fine. Great price - 9 pounds for week night in a central place in London, very close to Victoria station! Very nice and quiet atmosphere on a Tuesday night, no partyers but cute pub downstairs. Washroom facilities not super clean and should be more sinks. Free breakfast, coupon for 1/2 off drink in the pub and nice staff.
