Walk On The Beach Hostel

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Nice hostel, lovely and helpful staff. Felt a little bit small for the number of guests - e.g. the breakfast area doesn`t have loads of space but not really a problem. Really good kitchen, nice TV room etc, close to Copacabana beach, would recommend!

Nice hostel - we were staying here in their winter so it was a bit colder and the atmosphere was pretty quiet. I imagine when its summer that this hostel would really be outstanding. Staff were very helpful, and breakfast is amazing!

Great hostel, opposite the bus stop so location is perfect. Staff were really helpful and welcoming. Small town but the hostel has a bar which was lively in the evening, really nice atmosphere. Showers were not too warm which was slightly sad as it was pretty rainy when we were staying but as we were only there one night this wasn't too much of an issue.

Really nice hostel, would definitely recommend. Staff were really great, nice little atmosphere. Kitchen is well equipped and spacious enough for more than one person to be cooking. Rooms were clean and comfortable, even equipped with reading lights which is always nice.

Nice hostel, but not much was going on here. Stayed here after Milhouse hostel but had to move due to their being no space. Milhouse was a lot of fun - Ostinatto nice but a lot quieter and not much atmosphere. The staff are really lovely though and the actual hostel is very nice.

Nice hostel, there is seldom anyone at the front desk though which we needed a few times so was slightly frustrating..! Other than that hot showers, comfy beds, good location. No lockers but felt pretty safe, guess it depends who you have in your room though!

Really nice hostel. Stayed here after staying in Wild Rover - go to Wild Rover if you want a lively and fun atmosphere and parties, but if you want something a bit quieter than Backpackers is very clean with nice facilities.

Pariwana Hostel Cusco

Brilliant hostel, one of the nicest I have stayed in. Bar is fun, great atmosphere, excellent location. We booked our Salktantay trek to Machu Picchu through the hostel and the company turned out to be great! Also the hostel let us leave our bags here whilst we were on the trek. Good facilities with the bar/restaurant, tv room, internet room, table tennis, table football. Also free coffee & tea. Had a brilliant time here.

Only stopped in Nazca for the night to do the flight early in the morning, and this hostel suited our needs. Clean, new, rooms, friendly staff. Not too busy but Nazca itself does not have much going on so it's not really a place to socialise anyway. Would recommend.

We only stayed in Paracas one night to do the boat trip and national park tour (don't need more time here), so for what we needed this hostel was great. Didn't see many other guests whilst we were here but we weren't around long enough for this to matter. Staff were absolutely lovely and booked our tours for us, and arranged a taxi to take us to Huacachina at a decent price.

This is a nice hostel, but it's a bit further away from where the other, more sociable, hostels seem to be (near Kennedy park). The kitchen is fine and there is a nice outdoor sitting area, as well as a good TV area, but it's pretty quiet so if you are looking for a more sociable place it would be better to try Pariwana. The area of Miraflores is a nice place to stay though. Had a mix up with our bill which took SO long to sort out which was quite frustrating.

We arrived in the middle of the night, around 4am, and were able to check straight into our rooms. This is a nice hostel - it did not have loads of atmosphere when we were there but the staff were helpful enough and booked all our day trips and buses for us, and other people were nice.

Nice hostel, not too expensive for the Galapagos. Not much atmosphere when we were there and also very difficult to find! Would be useful to send out directions once you`ve booked, no one we asked could help us!

Kevin the owner is so lovely and helpful, made the stay brilliant! It`s a little bit further out than some of the other hostels but only a 10 - 15 minute walk and all taxis are only $1 anyway. Comfortable rooms, including having a fridge and tiny kitchen area. Good value for the Galapagos.

Dreamkapture Hostal

Guayaquil, Ecuador

Nice hostel - we were only stopping in Guayaquil for one night on our way to the Galapagos. Not too sociable or brilliant atmosphere but that could have just been the time we were there. Staff were nice, however they told us they would book our taxi to the airport for us and it would be sorted for us when we left the next day. Taxi never came - don`t know if taxi or hostels fault. Unfortunately there was a power cut at the time so we had to walk in the rain to get one - I guess we were unlucky!

Fine for a night or two as somewhere to sleep but not really more than that. No receptionist when we turned up, had to wait for him to come back from the shops. Room smelt like eggs every time you turn the tap on. Didn`t seem like there were any other guests in the hostel... however beds were fine, seemed clean enough so fine for somewhere just to stop by!

Really nice hostel in great location. Kitchen is very small but not really a problem. Staff very friendly and helpful - helped us book all our activities in Banos at great prices. Only complaint is the 11pm "bedtime" when after which you cannot use the communal areas, so have no choice but to go back to your bedrooms - bit weird for a hostel when you cant even sit and have a chat until midnight! Other than that would definitely recommend.

Nice little hostel, really sweet Italian owner. More of a guesthouse however and not the place to go if looking to socialise. Kitchen is fine, and bedrooms clean and comfortable. Not the greatest location as nothing is really nearby except standard shops like bakeries and internet cafes but easy enough to get the bus from the main road during the day.

Hostel Vista Serena

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in! Staff were so friendly and helpful, atmosphere was brilliant - had so much fun here but it didn't have a party hostel atmosphere throughout the night so it wasn't a problem if you didn't want to go out. The dinner they serve here was delicious and Conrad made excellent smoothies! Would reccommend 100%

Hostel Oasis Granada

Decent hostel, rooms are standard but basic, lockers didn't feel completely secure as they were wooden and harder to lock - although we didn't have any problems. My friend realised she left her camera here but when she emailed the hostel about it received no response whatsoever. The location was good though and the hostel was generally nice, good breakfast and the swimming pool and hammocks were good!

San Salvador, El Salvador

This was a nice place to stay, however the nearby area didnt feel like it had much going on other than big chain American restaurants such as Burger King, Wendys, Subway etc. Felt safe to walk around at night though. Kind of annoying that you have to pay to use lockers, or to use the computer with internet, even though it is cheap. Also the lockers are not in your room which is a bit of a pain. Rooms were very basic but alright. It was a nice place to stay but just nothing outstanding.

Owner Comment (Hide)
At the reception we hand out a little leaflet with information about the area and what you can find here, too bad you did not read it. There are 2 museums within walking distance (Museo de Arte popular and the Contemporary history museum , Museo de la palabra y el imagen) if you explore a little bit beyond the main street here are several local eateries serving typical dishes for a low cost. Big advantage of our location is being close to all the most important bus routes to explore the country.

El Hostal

Brilliant hostel, clean, great atmosphere, amazing breakfast. Staff are friendly, also make great smoothies. This is a quieter hostel, for a party hostel would be better to go to La Terraza, however anyone is welcome to their bar so we just went over there for the night but enjoyed our stay at El Hostal. Would definitely reccommend, also if staying its worth going to Sky Cafe across the road.

Really good location right next to the Zocalo. It's a fairly quiet hostel which is nice if that's what you're looking for, not if you're wanting to go out and party etc. Lovely staff, very clean, feels very safe (lockers big enough for large backpackers and key cards to each room). Would recommend.
