Excellent location and reasonable value for Iceland. Swish lobby area and solid wifi. People opening and closing their draw things under dorm beds is pretty noisy and irritating bur the perils of hostel living I suppose! More kitchen and shower space required for peak hours but a nice bright place with friendly staff and a happy hour bar.

Luckily, we knew the location of this hostel before we booked it for a night, having stayed in central Boston for a week already. It is considerably far out, in the city of Everett rather than Boston - so be prepared to spend money you save on transport into town. Hostel was acceptable, but walls were ridiculously thin and a particularly loud man in the room next door made the night quite frustrating, such is the situation in such creaky places. Good wifi though, and nice social area at the back

If you enjoyed central Boston, why did you move? Everett is right next to Boston, less than 3 miles from central Boston and 4 quick subway stops from downtown. The train is $2, far less than the $50 it would cost to park your car daily in central Boston. So FREE PARKING is nice. And we are proud of having the FASTEST WI FI in Boston, we are glad you took advantage of it. And we are happy you liked the social atmosphere. Most people really enjoy their time here. Thank you

Great place to spend 4th July. Small hostel where everyone can make friends in the common area. Our dorm was right next to this area - if you want to go to sleep before the others I'd imagine it'd be a bit noisy but they do have quiet hours, 24 hour staff and solid wifi. Bed a little squeaky but overall a true hostel - friendly, relaxed and in a very central location.

Pros - Excellent location, solid wifi, private rooms are very good value, plenty of common areas and facilities, lots of people at any one time. Cons - why on earth was there a door between us and another room with a huge gap at the bottom? Could hear everything as if we were in there with them. It's a party hostel so if, like us, you go to bed early to get up for an early plane you're screwed as there's little let up. At 3am waiting for a cab to airport - two people bleeding on doorstep.

Awesome hostel! We were in a private double, next to one of many shower/bathrooms so appreciated the quieter atmosphere (more hotel than party hostel). Considering location, which is spot on for Hollywood, and solid wifi, the included waffle breakfasts are super good value for LA (and US in general) although the kitchen is small and queues can form on busy mornings. Considering the price of accommodation In Americas larger cities I would say this was excellent value overall and great staff.

Ignore any comments about this being the worst hostel in the world etc. Excellent location (it's a city so common sense is needed) extremely well decorated rooms which are cleaned daily, solid wifi and good security. More of a hotel than a hostel so think again if you want a common room/kitchen etc. We were on the upper floor and out much of the time, the music room noise was not an issue for us. I do agree that more toilets/showers ARE definitely required but we had no problems.

Beach Escape Villas

For the money this place is good as it includes breakfast, there's a nice pool area and it's a good cheap place to stay the night before/after a flight (you wouldn't want to be in Newtown area for much more than that). It's very near to Bamboo which is a bit pricier and you can use the beach, get food etc.

Bamboo Beach

This is a good place to stay, near the airport, for a night or two before going to the islands. The beach is alright but the resort area could do with a tidy so any more nights and you'd start to feel like you're not getting the paradise Fiji experience. Our room was fine for the money, good wifi and tasty food. On coming back to the mainland a night before our flight we've stayed in the cheaper Beach Escape hostel about 2 seconds away from Bamboo - cheaper beer!

Excellent location and nice rooms. Solid wifi and good clean facilities. We stayed in a double upstairs, which was quiet apart from the street noise outside which didn't prove too troublesome, even with my light sleeping. Couldn't comment on noise in the dorms, which are next to the social area.

Old Penang GuestHouse

Beautiful old colonial house with clean and functional rooms (good air con and solid wifi). As in many Malaysian hostels, breakfast is just toast but good value for money nonetheless. Clean bathrooms etc and superb location. Floorboards are old and if you're unlucky enough to have some fool who doesn't know how to tread lightly then you may have to have words but friendly, good atmosphere overall.

A few rooms above a travel agency rather than a hostel but our double room at the top was very nice, bathroom bigger than some rooms we've stayed in! Location is good but not excellent as it is a fair walk in the heat to the main strip but only 15mins or so. Wifi in the lobby only and no breakfast. All in all, perfect for a night or two but any more and you'll feel the lack of atmosphere/facilities.

Lime n Soda Beachfront Resort

Almost unbelievable value for money - a beach side resort with stunning views, awesome facilities and very reasonable prices considering the quality. Their freshly caught seafood on the BBQ is a must. Booked back when breakfast was inc. which is no longer available but still good value and, as another reviewer has said, heaven on earth. Caters for Moon Parties and families, 'lads on tour' and couples as it is surprisingly big. Not in Haard Rin though so quiet area.

Nice and clean, everything in new working order, but the rooms are much smaller (boxes) than we've been getting for the same price. Booked a transfer to the islands with thwmwhich picked up at 7:15. Reception doesn't officially open until 7:30 but I wrongly assumed staff would be around. Alas, couldn't get the deposit back for the key.... solid wifi but no breakfast included.

Wonderful, quiet, hostel near the old city and night bazaar. Our room was superb, large and bright - excellent value for money although no breakfast options. Spent a lot of time in the room as partner was ill and it was extremely comfy although I wouldn't recommend if looking for something like a party hostel. Staff are very friendly and wifi is solid.

I can not fault the Happy Guesthouse! Awesome room, very clean. Solid wifi. Mega good value for money - cheapest yet nicest double we've stayed in. Very helpful re Angor Wat - organised tuk tuk driver etc. Cheap food and nice chill out space in the front yard. Book it!

Cute hostel with amazing banana pancakes for breakfast! Solid wifi and clean, value for money rooms. We arrived at 5 in the morning and had to wake up to poor receptionist, who was more than understanding. Good location for the backpacker area and other sights.

Very nice hotel just off the river. Paid for a deluxe double and it may well have been one of the nicest rooms I've ever stated in, let alone in Vietnam. Awesome breakfast and solid wifi on each floor. As this is a hotel rather than a hostel, party atmosphere is obviously not a thing but that's exactly what we were after during a stop over in Da Nang before train to HMCH. Thumbs up!

Very good value for money as you can hardly move without staff offering you a fruit salad on the house! Few flights of stairs up but our double room was very nice, spacious and clean - tv and solid wifi. Booked taxis to temples and rented bikes etc, all of which was reasonable and the staff are very helpful, If a little pushy on this front. Down what seems like a dodgy alley but is in fact more than fine - central location.

Having stayed at the Little Hanou Hostel we decided to stay with Backpackers after going to Halong Bay just for variety. Our room was super nice but we paid WAY over the odds for it, especially as the Internet ' shaky and the atmosphere is upbeat, but not really that friendly. It's definitely a party hostel, and ad a couple just out to chat over a beer the vive was a little intense but perfect if this type of hostel is your thing.

A very sweet hostel right in the heart of the Old Quarter, exactly where you need to be. Our double room was very sizeable, clean and the bathroom facilities were excellent, as was the included breakfast. Staff were super helpful and other than a bit of noise on our first night due to builders refitting a room we slept very well.
