If you don't mind sleeping in a room without window, Fridays hostel is a good place to be. At the weekend it gets really really noisy, because a disco is next to the hostel! The district Lapa where the hostel is located isn't the safest place in Rio, so take care.
Staying at Provenzal was great! Me and my boyfriend spent 5 days there and just enjoyed. Even though you feel more like in a hotel than hostel. Our room was tidied up daily and always clean. Furthermore the location is really good! You have access to all you need.
The hostel in general is nice! We stayed in a tent which we can really recommend! If you want to cook you will find everything necessary in the kitchen and also have nice places to relax in the sun. You should keep in mind that the hostel is not in the city center and DO NOT RENT THEIR BIKES!!
The hostel was a bit far away from the center and the area around didnt seem to be really safety. The kitchen itself wasnt very useable. The building is really nice and the doble bed dorm was also good looking.
We stayed in a doble bed dorm which was rerally nice. The bathrooms were clean ans also the breakfast was good. The atmosphere could have been better..The staff was helpful and there was a bus station very close to the hostel where wew could take a bus to the Iguazu Falls.
The owner of the hostel was very friendly and welcoming! The hostel itself was really nice decorated with hamocks etc. We appreciated our stay at ecologic!
