This is exactly what you should expect from an inexpensive hostel. It is grimy, wet, and smells like spring break. But if you're paying $18 to stay in a 20-person room, your expectations should already be low. Note: I did not stay in one of their private rooms and I don't know what those are like. Staff was kind and helpful, they have free transportation to/from the airport, and a couple other free goodies. I highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a cheap getaway to L.A.

Hostel is a little far from town center, but is right next to a bus stop so it's not terrible. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the whole place is very clean. A good place to use as a ski base for a couple days.

The staff is not super awesome, but the location is close to the town center, and the free breakfast is pretty nice. Rooms are average, but on the plus side lockers are big and can hold most backpacks.

It's next to the train station and the historical center, but a little far from allthe good bars and restaurants, which kind of sucks. Staff are somewhat helpful, and the rooms are clean. A good location if you're OK with some longer walks.

Wombats City Hostel Berlin, Berlin, Germany

The staff was pretty helpful, and as with all Wombats the free drink and top story bar make it a good incentive to have a drink and meet people. The lockers are big enough for even the biggest backpacks, and the hostel is right next to a u-bahn station making access to the whole city pretty easy. Could stand to be a little cleaner, but for the price can't really complain. Stayed one night in a double ensuite as well, which was very quiet and nice.

The staff is friendly and the hostel is close to pretty much everything. Rooms are good. They are super persistent about 10 PM quiet time though, which sucked a little. Still worth a stay though since the bar never closes.

Not a super great place to meet people. Hours can be a little restrictive too. Good location though and staff was friendly and helpful. Well stocked kitchen as well.

The bathrooms are kind of dirty and there's kind of a dirty feeling about the whole place. Also, you have to pay for WiFi. It's not terribly expensive, but free would be better. My hands were tied because no other reasonably priced places were available. If you can book somewhere else, do so.

When I showed up it was full. Thankfully they have an emergency bed and they let me stay there free of charge. Place was clean enough and the beer was cheap too, and it was close to the train station.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The free drink was nice, and gave an incentive to hang out at the bar and meet people. The rooms were clean enough that I felt fine sleeping there, and the lockers were large enough to hold my enormous backpack. The free Wi-Fi was clutch too.
