Had a great stay at Sanya Backpackers. Very convenient location, short walk to the beach. Really friendly staff, super helpful. Hostel was very clean, rooms cleaned daily. Food and drink in hostel if you don't feel like going out, but plenty of options nearby. The instant coffee at the hostel is no good, but not a big problem, Starbucks is 5 minutes walk.

Xiamen Old Town Hostel

This hostel is located in a really interesting area. Right in the old town with interesting markets all around, lots of great food and few tourists. Also quite close to the Gulangyu Island ferry and the airport shuttle. Maggie, the owner is really friendly and helpful. Only problem I had was no A/C in the 2 bed dorm room, and it was really hot. But I think most other rooms have A/C. Overall, a really great place to stay in Xiamen.

Really awesome location right in the center of Taxia Village. Could be a little tricky getting here if you don't speak chinese, so plan ahead. Easy to access surrounding clusters from here(although you really need a car to see most of them as they are spread out) . Staff was very helpful, great english spoken here. Biggest problem for me was the mosquitoes in the room, no matter how many I killed, they kept coming. Really made for a bad nights sleep.Aside from that, this hostel was nice enough.

6 bed dorms were nice and clean, each bed very spacious, with a shelf, plug, light and locker. 2 minute walk to train station. bus station and airport not far by taxi. old town is a 30-40 minute walk. easy to get to huang shan from hostel, just walk to train station (across the street) and take a bus for 20rmb. staff very helpful, english level adequate.

Really great hostel. Very warm and mellow, a great place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Central location, quick walk to Forbidden City/Tiananmen Square, subway, and several parks. Awesome covered courtyard, great place to hang out and have a beer (only 4 yuan a bottle!) or some tea. Hostel staff was very helpful; they arranged our Great Wall trip, offered many suggestions for food and other sights, and even arranged taxis to take us to the airport when we left early in the morning.

We stayed here two separate times. Great room, great staff, great location. While not as close to the Skytrain as the Siam Square Branch (10 minute walk), more relaxed, especially with the protests.

Lub d Bangkok Siam Square

Only stayed one night before transferring to the Silom Lub d because of the protests. This hostel was pretty nice, the staff were very friendly and helpful, made it very easy for us to switch our booking over. The hostel was a bit noisy; from my room I could hear a lot of activity from inside and out of the hostel. Otherwise, good place to stay, very prime location, 1 minute from the Sky Train.
