The Crib

Plovdiv, Bulgaria

Cosy apartment style hostel located two minutes from the centre of Plovdiv. Comfortable and clean dorms. The Inventive and original breakfasts were a welcome break from the usual fare served in hostels. Dinners available sometimes on request. Reception was available most of the time but sometimes was not there. Bathroom floor was wet a lot too. Stay in the Crib for a fun and relaxing time in Plovdiv.

Hostel Mostel

Sofia, Bulgaria

I stayed in the 18 bed dorm and had a good night's sleep. The price does not include the free breakfast or dinner. Nice staff and lots of information for your visit to Sofia. Kitchen was not available during evening time as it was used for preparing the free dinner for customers eligible for it. A good fun hostel tailored to the needs of backpackers.

Day 'n' night

Nis, Serbia

Cosy, apartment style hostel set in vibrant neighbourhood in Nis. The city centre is a ten minute walk and the hostel is located near bakeries, stores and a fruit market. Day 'n night has most facilities one expects except a laundry service. Superbly clean and tidy at all times. Nice english speaking staff. Comfortable dorm beds. All good.

Lazin Hostel

Novi Sad, Serbia

Fun hostel in an excellent location in the centre of Novi Sad surrounded by cafes and Bars and excellent nightlife. This hostel felt more like staying in a friend's apartment and the staff created a super atmosphere. Breakfast and Free laundry included. Across the street is the Escaperooms Novi sad game- I recommend. Poznan!

Sun Hostel

Belgrade, Serbia

Small, fun hostel in Belgrade. Nice, welcoming staff. Excellent for a dorm room. and dorms. Only two bathrooms to share amongst all the guests. Excellent facilities, back garden, wifi, loung area, lots of info about belgrade and Serbia, computer for guests. 24 hour reception. The negative about Sun hostel is the location which is 25 minute walk to belgrade centre or alternatively a trtram journey. Close to St sava temple and Tesla Museum. Overall excellent hostel.

Little Italy Hostel

Perugia, Italy

Little italy: compact, modern hostel set in a former church 2 minutes from centre of Perugia. Comfortable ensuite dorm and beds. Spotlessly Clean throughout. Friendly, helpful staff. Little Italy also operates a very cool, small cafe/bar on the premises. Good Coffee, tea, wine, beer, alcohol, snacks and a variety of italian dishes available. The bar is open to the public. Very good prices for a dorm room in the height of summer. The only negative about this hostel is lack of kitchen facilities.

Hostel Santa Monaca

Florence, Italy

Big hostel located across the river from the centre of florence. Comfortable and clean air conditioned dorms. This hostel is not just a place to stay the night, the hostel is designed for the budget traveller and backpacker and the staff will give you the info to make the most your time in Florence. This was my second time staying at the melting pot. Mind your head entering the front door! Look for the chalkboard with your name - a very nice welcoming gesture. Nice multilingual staff. Good facilities- kitchen, roof terrace with views of Gibraltar, common area. It is difficult to locate in the Medina. It is over priced compared to other hostels elsewhere in Morocco. Beer available for 25 dh, wine, mint tea and meals also. Overall very good hostel and good atmosphere.

MIA Hostels Asilah

Assilah, Morocco

One of the best hostels I stayed at in Morocco. Mia is a newly opened hostel in Asilah and boasts some excellent facilities -kitchen, dining, common area, comfortable clean dormrooms, roof terrace, patio terrace. 5 minutes walking to medina and to beaches. Nice spanish and Moroccan staff. The building is possibly difficult to locate as it is a villa in an estate and not let's say in the medina as expected. I used Google maps to find it and had no problems. A little overpriced but I recommend it

Hostel Cloud Nine

Essaouira, Morocco

Small hostel. Nice, friendly multilingual moroccan staff. Overall clean hostel but bathroom floor was wet most of the time. Overpriced I feel at 85 - 95 dh per night in a 6 bed dorm.

Zohour Hostel

Fez, Morocco

Good hostel set in a very beautiful moroccan riad. Friendly staff welcomed me with a nice mint tea. Good value for money with breakfast included. Excellent cleanliness. A good hostel to relax in. Not to be confused with the nearby 'Dar Zohour'. Good location.

Pension Souika

Chefchaouen, Morocco

Riad-Style Hostel in excellent location frequented by backpackers, stoners and ageing hippies. I stayed in the rooftop tent at 40dh per night and it was a pleasant experience. Good atmosphere created by guests with many evenings spent watching the sunset on Chefchouen from the rooftop terrace. Staff could be a little bit more hospitable. At first it is difficult to locate in the winding streets of the medina but it is well signposted. Beware of the touts nearby. A good, value for money hostel.

Le Penguin Hostel

Faro, Portugal

One of the best hostels I stayed in. The staff are very friendly and wrlcoming. The hostel organised pubcrawls and dinner for just 5 euros. A good atmosphere is maintained at all times and the staff must also be lauded for their taste in music. Clean and comfortable dorms and facilities. Nice courtyard for dinner on summer nights. 24 hour reception. Located right near a shping center and some supermarkets. Located about 10 or 15 minutes from the old town of Faro and the bus station.

HostelOne Sevilla Alameda

Seville, Spain

Nice comfortable hostel with very helpful and welcoming staff, especially an American guy. Close to local cafes and bars but it is a 20 to 25 minute walk to the city centre and the main tourist sites and also from the bus station. The location is the only negative I found with this hostel. It was a little bit expensive perhaps for a six bed dorm but I did dtsy furing the peak period of Semana santa. The hostel organises Flamenco nights, workshops and pubcrawls. All in all an excellent hostel.

Polaroid Siesta Hostel

Granada, Spain

Nice small hostel set about 10 minutes from centre of Granada. Friendly Staff. Clean and Comfortable. Atmosphere was a little lacking as there were not many guests there at the time. Cool rooftop terrace. Small kitchen. All in all a very good hostel and a place to get a good night's sleep.

Purple Nest Hostel Valencia

Valencia, Spain

Purple nest is a real party hostel. I recommend it for young travellers looking to party and have some fun. It has a bar/restaurant where it's possible to get drinks and meals. The multiple showers I appreciate as it meant not having to wait all morning to use the same one as other guests. I liked the computers available for guests' use. Good location 5 minutes from the historic centre. I advise against staying in this hostel if you are loking for somewhere quiet to chillout. Good fun hostel.

Erasmus Home

Salamanca, Spain

Excellent small hostel close to the centre of Salamanca. I liked the free welcoming drink at the hostel's sister cafe Erasmus Cafe. Breakfast is served at the same cafe and discounts are available for hostel guests. It is a small hostel with a small communal space and lacks a kitchen. Nice staff at this dutch-managed hostel. Free lollipops!
