Lookout Lisbon! Hostel

Lisbon, Portugal
100%

Backpacker hostel witn great atatmosphere and great staff in Bairro alto, lisbon's party district. Comfy dorms, fully equipped kitchen, bike rental, big lockers, free luggage storage, lots info for your stay, movie nights and pub crawl. However sleeping can be difficult as it iz located near one of the busiest streets in lisbon in terms of late bars and hence can be noisy.

Toc Hostel Madrid

Madrid, Spain
97%

Luxury Hostel. TOC is probably the most classy and chic hostel I've stayed in. This newly opened hostel has facilities of the highest standard. There is a bar on the premises with a snooker table in the common area. However TOC perhaps lacks the atmosphere of a backpacker hostel. Superb location, two minutes from puerta del sol. Ensuite Dorm rooms are clean and comfotable with large lockers for luggage. Starbucks is right across the street for coffee enthusiasts.

Thessaloniki Studios Arabas

Nice staff, Davide the italian, and a good location.Cool common area/cafe with free tea and coffee. Really good atmosphere. The only issue I must raise is that of the 5 bed 'superior' dorm that I booked for 3 nights. The room was in effect a 10 bed dorm as other guests must walk through the room and up a noisy metal staircase to get to theirs. The frequent noisy interruptions can make sleeping difficult. Much noise is transmitted through the ceiling from the room above. Not worth 15 euro per night

Galata West

Istanbul, Turkey
89%

Value for money hostel in good location near Galata tower. I liked the free breakfast of salads, bread and Tea/coffee. The rooftop terrace was a cool place to hangout and enjoy the views over Istanbul. The building is narrow and hence requires walking up and down a lot of stairs but it was not a problem for me. Tea/coffee available all day and shisha, PS3, aircon, luggage storage, free map and info. 10 euro for 6 bed dorm with breakfast included is a good deal. All in all a very enjoyable stay

Clean and comfortable hostel with superb rooftop terrace located five minutes walking from taksim square. It also operates a cafe in the building serving turkish food and beverages. Nice staff. I liked to relax in the common area/cafe part of the hostel. Set in a quiet neighbourhood with traditional turkish cafes, shops and local businesses.

Taksim Sopha Hostel

Istanbul, Turkey

As it states on the website this hostel is set in a noisy area with a busy nightlife so a good night's sleep is not guaranteed! One morning the coomon area and kitchen was locked which was an inconvenience. These negative points should not detract from the Kiwi owner who is a friendly and nice guy. Good location near Istikal street, restaurants and cafes. This small independent hostel is one of the budget options in Istanbul and I recommend for the backpacker looking to party.

The Inventive and original breakfasts were a welcome break from the usual fare served in hostels. Dinners available sometimes on request. Reception was available most of the time but sometimes was not there. Bathroom floor was wet a lot too. Stay in the Crib for a fun and relaxing time in Plovdiv.

I stayed in the 18 bed dorm and had a good night's sleep. The price does not include the free breakfast or dinner. Nice staff and lots of information for your visit to Sofia. Kitchen was not available during evening time as it was used for preparing the free dinner for customers eligible for it. A good fun hostel tailored to the needs of backpackers.

Little italy: compact, modern hostel set in a former church 2 minutes from centre of Perugia. Comfortable ensuite dorm and beds. Spotlessly Clean throughout. Friendly, helpful staff. Little Italy also operates a very cool, small cafe/bar on the premises. Good Coffee, tea, wine, beer, alcohol, snacks and a variety of italian dishes available. The bar is open to the public. Very good prices for a dorm room in the height of summer. The only negative about this hostel is lack of kitchen facilities.

This was my second time staying at the melting pot. Mind your head entering the front door! Look for the chalkboard with your name - a very nice welcoming gesture. Nice multilingual staff. Good facilities- kitchen, roof terrace with views of Gibraltar, common area. It is difficult to locate in the Medina. It is over priced compared to other hostels elsewhere in Morocco. Beer available for 25 dh, wine, mint tea and meals also. Overall very good hostel and good atmosphere.

MIA Hostels Asilah

Assilah, Morocco
94%

One of the best hostels I stayed at in Morocco. Mia is a newly opened hostel in Asilah and boasts some excellent facilities -kitchen, dining, common area, comfortable clean dormrooms, roof terrace, patio terrace. 5 minutes walking to medina and to beaches. Nice spanish and Moroccan staff. The building is possibly difficult to locate as it is a villa in an estate and not let's say in the medina as expected. I used Google maps to find it and had no problems. A little overpriced but I recommend it

Pension Souika

Chefchaouen, Morocco
91%

Riad-Style Hostel in excellent location frequented by backpackers, stoners and ageing hippies. I stayed in the rooftop tent at 40dh per night and it was a pleasant experience. Good atmosphere created by guests with many evenings spent watching the sunset on Chefchouen from the rooftop terrace. Staff could be a little bit more hospitable. At first it is difficult to locate in the winding streets of the medina but it is well signposted. Beware of the touts nearby. A good, value for money hostel.

One of the best hostels I stayed in. The staff are very friendly and wrlcoming. The hostel organised pubcrawls and dinner for just 5 euros. A good atmosphere is maintained at all times and the staff must also be lauded for their taste in music. Clean and comfortable dorms and facilities. Nice courtyard for dinner on summer nights. 24 hour reception. Located right near a shping center and some supermarkets. Located about 10 or 15 minutes from the old town of Faro and the bus station.

HostelOne Sevilla Alameda

Nice comfortable hostel with very helpful and welcoming staff, especially an American guy. Close to local cafes and bars but it is a 20 to 25 minute walk to the city centre and the main tourist sites and also from the bus station. The location is the only negative I found with this hostel. It was a little bit expensive perhaps for a six bed dorm but I did dtsy furing the peak period of Semana santa. The hostel organises Flamenco nights, workshops and pubcrawls. All in all an excellent hostel.

Purple Nest Hostel Valencia

Purple nest is a real party hostel. I recommend it for young travellers looking to party and have some fun. It has a bar/restaurant where it's possible to get drinks and meals. The multiple showers I appreciate as it meant not having to wait all morning to use the same one as other guests. I liked the computers available for guests' use. Good location 5 minutes from the historic centre. I advise against staying in this hostel if you are loking for somewhere quiet to chillout. Good fun hostel.

Excellent small hostel close to the centre of Salamanca. I liked the free welcoming drink at the hostel's sister cafe Erasmus Cafe. Breakfast is served at the same cafe and discounts are available for hostel guests. It is a small hostel with a small communal space and lacks a kitchen. Nice staff at this dutch-managed hostel. Free lollipops!
