Som Guesthouse

The room was large and had plenty of places to store stuff but not enough places to dry our beach gear. Our room had an outside light on the other side of a thin curtain but we got in late enough to sleep through it. Wifi was painful to connect to but once it got going it was ok. The location was good and bad, good in that we were really close to the beach and nightlife, bad because it faced onto a carpark. Air condition was a bit annoying as it was only worked in half the room.

HI Siem Reap

This place was really comfortable and the friendly staff were great- one drove us around for a day (before sunrise to after sunset) for $20US and bought us juice and showed us around the area too. Gave us beer on New Years too. Beds were comfortable and room was large with hot showers although the air condition turned on and off. Pool table was a fun way to meet people and located over the road from the night market 5mins form the main street. Good breakfast provided free.

Me Mates Villa

The location was pretty good opposite the Royal Palace and less than ten minutes to the main street. Beds were comfortable with decent Wifi. The staff weren't that friendly and made it difficult to organise the bus to Siem Reap. It was very clean and the food was good but a bit expensive. The downstairs lounge area is a good place to meet people. The lockers in the rooms were very big.

Phan Anh Backpackers Hostel

The hostel was pretty good daily cleaned rooms and the breakfast was nice as well as very good air con. We booked an overnight bus to Phnom Penh through the front desk and it was the worst experience of the entire trip. We asked for the best possible bus for the long trip and checked that it was clean and had good facilities and a toilet and paid about 50% more for it as well as a 'special Tet fee' and got the complete opposite with a dirty unclean and unsafe bus. It ruined our experience.

Little Hanoi Hostel

Room was clean and cheap and we got a good breakfast included but the shower was cold and bathroom was a bit dirty. The airport transfer was good even though our flight was delayed for 5 hours. Staff were friendly and helped us to book two fantastic trips to Ha Long bay and Sapa (while we were away they also stored our large bags in a safe room). We were very close to a lot of the major attractions and good bars and restaurants. Reception was great for when we got back at 4:30am from the train.
