Kind of just a house converted to a hostel by adding some bunk beds... Not really a place to hang out during the day/night, just a place to sleep. If that's all you want,it's a good location and not too expensive!
City and hotel were a bit dead in the wake of Chinese new year so hard to judge how it is normally. Staff I met didn't speak good English, so relied on my Chinese for most communication. Rooms were clean and good for a few nights but no luxury stay.
Great looking hotel at a pretty good price through this site. Stayed there a night after crossing from HK. Taxi driver knew the place which always makes travel easier. Staff spoke OK English for the mainland, didn't have to rely on my Chinese (thank God). Would definitely stay here again, though the location is a bit far from the more interesting spots in the city (who cares, taxis are cheap!)
One of the best hostels I've been to, and I've been to a few. Room was hotel quality with great facilities. Staff speak excellent English and Mike, the resident chef and odd-job man, is just an awesome bloke who will drink with you from morning till night if you want. Excellent menu available around the clock as well. Cannot recommend enough!
This is in the upper tier of hostels I've stayed at, with great facilities and very friendly staff very competent with English. There is a great atmosphere in the hostel as they have a good on-site bar where you find friendly people drinking most nights. Very easy to make friends, and of course the hostel is located adjacent to Beijing's best (and only significant, to my knowledge) nightspots in Sanlitun!
