CityRest - Fort

Colombo, Sri Lanka

This is a motel-style hostel in a good location for a couple of days sightseeing around Colombo. The shower and bathrooms could have been a bit nicer but the room was great. They have very fast wifi available everywhere and the breakfast that is included is nice! The only problem we had is that our room was advertised as a 'deluxe private double' and there was no double bed. We had 3 single beds in our room (with one bunk bed) and apparently they have no doubles available. Otherwise great!

Nice little en suite rooms close to the beach and restaurants. Wifi was non-existent in the rooms and barely worked outside though, which was a shame. Rooms were clean, staff were friendly.

Fivos has a great location. The rooms were a good size and our ensuite was small but functional. The wifi didn't work the whole time we were there which was annoying. Staff were helpful.

This is an amazing little hostel with a gtrat atmosphere! It has a great common area outside where you can sit and chat with otuer guests. We arrived a day early for our booking so we spent one night in a 4 bed dorm amd 2 nights in a private double room and both were great. The dorm was much nicer than others we've stayed in as it had curtains round the beds for privacy. I would love to come back again!

Olive Hostel Belgrade

This is a great little hostel right in the centre of Belgrade and it's within walking distance of the train station. We had a private twin room that was really clean and spacious and the bathrooms were also really nice and clean. There is a small kitchen with some hobs and there is washing machine that you can use for a small extra charge. We would definately stay here again.

The only good thing is the location and fairly helpful staff. Yes it is cheap but unless you don't mind not showering or going to the toilet (both of these are very dirty and disgusting) and you can sleep in a cloud of cigarette smoke with constant noise then please don't stay here. There was no air con, fan or even window in our 14 bed dorm and everyone was smoking meaning that everything stunk, our eyes hurt and it was hard to breathe (and we are smokers ourselves) after only a few hours.

This place is a small house with 2 rooms and a bathroom and fridge to share so the facilities aren't great. It wasn't particularly clean (in the bathroom as well as the bed) and I couldn't stand up straight in the shower and I am not very tall.

sharing facilities rooms are in 'small house' (everything is small in old town, its built before 400 years when averadge people high was 165cm). anyway, im 185 and can stand in shower on my foot. there is bathroom with tub, too). its true that rooms out of old town are biger and better, in old town we decoreated maximum we could, in atmosphere of our old, thats very special and we are proud to give you enjoy peace of that:) . cleanless is our better part; NOT true house was 'particulary clean'!

This is lovely accommodation very near the centre of old town Sarajevo. The owner came and picked us up from the train station for free when we arrived which was great. The rooms, kitchen and bathroom were all really nice and clean. This is a perfect budget option if you're looking for a private room and don't mind sharing a bathroom.

Lovely hostel made excellent by Jelena! She helped us with everything we needed and gave us amazing recommendations! This is a really homely place to stay with a nice common area with sofas/tv/computer and a well stocked, good sized and clean kitchen. We stayed in the twin room wich was good value for money with our own balcony! This was the best hostel we've stayed in, we just wish we could have stayed for longer!

This hostel was ok. The toilets and showers aren't particularly nice but they aren't terrible either. There is a common area upstairs with a good computer and a small kitchen and rhere are microwaves and fridges on each floors. We had a private twin room which was basic but not uncomfortable.

This hotel is in a good location close to the train station. There is no-one on reception at this hotel, only at their sister hotel round the corner so you had to go there with any problems, queries etc. The room and bathroom were both clean- nothing fancy but had everything you needed. Wifi was at an extra cost and only available in the reception of their sister hotel.

Situated near the main train station which links with both metro lines so it is easy to get around. Shower was in wet room so wasn't very nice as everything got wet- this could easily be solved by a shower curtain. There is a fridge if you want to store food but no plates or cutlery etc. Staff were friendly.

B&B Firenze 32

Naples, Italy

Good location for day trips out of Naples as it is near the train station, although the general area is not very friendly. Advertises as having a kitchen- you are NOT allowed to make any food here only tea or coffee. Also advertises as having laundry facilities- we asked to use these and were told the washing machine was only for staff and we had to go to a very expensive laundrette about 5 minutes walk away. Room and bathroom were both good sizes and very clean. Breakfast is minimal.

This would be a great hostel for a solo traveller looking to meet new people in Florence! We arrived on a Saturday and that night they had free dinner and drinks. Kitchen was fully equipped and a good size and rooms and bathroom were very clean. Location was perfect, right in the centre of Florence and within walking distance of the train station. Staff were really helpful and friendly and made us feel at home straight away! Would love to come back and stay here!

Location is ok, it's not right next door to anything but it's not difficult to get to places but you will need to spend money on transport. No laundry or wifi in room but kitchen well stocked so facilities were good. Not much privacy in the bathroom for showering but it was very clean. Uou have to pay extra for linen but you are not allowed to use your own sleeping bag which was strange. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Hostel Dream Tour

Prague, Czech Republic

Security was bad as doors were never locked by other hostel guests so you could frequently walk straight in as reception is not on site. Cleanliness in the shower was very bad: floor was dirty, clogged up drain and used condom in there the whole time we were there. Kitchen is only a kettle and fridge and all plates etc were dirty as was the cloth provided to clean them. No wifi in hostel you have to go to reception in a completely different building.

Patio Hostel

A really nice, clean hostel in a good location. Everything in the city centre is in walking distance and it is only a short bus ride from the train station. There is also a very large Tesco supermarket just accross the road. The staff were all friendly and helped us find our way around. Room and bathroom were both good sizes and the bathroom was cleaned daily and was very nice. Kitchen was a bit small with no oven, only microwave and 2 small hobs, but was fine for basic meals.

A great little hotel in a perfect location for sightseeing with lovely, friendly English speaking staff that can help you find your way in Sighisoara! Antique Hostel Bucharest

The only problem we had with this hostel was that it advertised as having a kitchen but this only included a microwave and a kettle (no oven or hob/stove at all) and this was very disappointing as we wanted to cook for ourselves although we were told that they do normally have these facilities but the kitchen was being renovated. Apart from that it was a great, clean hostel in a great location with lovely staff and we would definitely stay again.

Metropolis Hostel

Istanbul, Turkey

This hostel is spotlessly clean in an amazing central location in Istanbul. It has a stunning view from it's rooftop terrace and the rooms are modern and well equipped with good security (key cards for rooms and safes) and there is 24hour reception. The only problem was you couldn't take your own food or drink on to the rooftop bar as they sold their own (which was pricier than the supermarket). Overall it was an excellent place with lovely staff that we would highly recommend.
