This hostel has a great location, very friendly and helpful staff and clean rooms (stayed in double). Staff is really helpful and actually care about you and your needs. Got help renting both bicycle and moped without any hassle whatsoever. The rooftop bar is nice, although not that crowded (empty at Saturday night), and gives you great views over the town. Would stay here again!

Wada Hostel in Guilin

Guilin, China

This hostel really lives up to it's hype. If you go to Guilin, this is the place to stay. The bar area downstairs is like nothing we have seen in China, really cosy and has a nice vibe about it. The staff is by far the friendliest and nicest we have seen during one month of travelling in China (helped us with flight + train tickets without any hassle). We stayed in a double private and a dorm, both clean and nicely decorated. Bonus: Staff really love guests with a thick beard :)

Ok hostel with very friendly staff. Stayed in a dorm that had windows to the hallway so light could enter the room (and my face) during the night (provided curtains where to short). Kitchen was small but there was seating area outside that was nice.

Super nice hostel with lots of space and an interesting layout. After a long day of mountain biking we took a beer and a relaxing bath in the "hot-tub" in the backyard. Nice kitchen with plenty of utensils. Stayed in a double bed that was really comfy :)

Happy to please :) The mountain biking is biking is some of the best in NZ isn't it? Nice to be able to melt for half an hour in the spa (41 degrees Celsius by the way), especially now that winter ha arrived! Cheers Neil

Very clean and interesting hostel. The atmosphere is great and the kitchen is very large and well equipped. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The common room could use some more chairs/seats though.

Nice hostel & staff. Clean rooms and we even had a shower & toilet in our dorm (4 person). The only complaint I have is that the common room was closed during late hours.

Good hostel with friendly staff. The $6 meal at the downstairs pub was perfect and the complimentary breakfast, much appreciated! Close to tram station and a few minutes walk to the beach along plenty of wallet friendly diners. Helpful staff that let us store the backpacks even after checkout. The only bad thing was the slow wifi, could be temporary though :)

Hey Jacob, Thanks for the feedback, good to hear we are doing something right :) unfortunately the wifi can be abit slow at peak times of the day when every other person is using it also. Thanks again

Confusing at first, when you arrive by night there is poor service and lack of information. Lots of codes and keys plus a safe to beat before you can get access to your room. Rooms are pretty worn out and facilities are poor. No common area accept the outside terrace. The staff (one guy?) didn't wear identifying clothes so you assume he's just another friendly backpacker and not the manager. It works for one night but if you can, pick another hostel.

I do feel obliged to point out a couple of things to the unassuming reader Yes we do have a fairly onerous system of codes and temple style traps that you must complete in order to access your keys, however this is only if you are arriving past midnight and is designed to stop homeless people who smell of onion wandering in and curling up with you while you sleep. And it must be said that if the onsite staff member at such a late hour was wearing more than boxers I would count that as a win
