Great location in the Candelario neighborhood. You can easily walk to restaurants and the main plazas. Staff are friendly and provide great city advice. Hostel is quiet and has a very chill vibe.
Dorm rooms are pretty basic, but have aircon and a private bathroom. The family who owns the hostel are very kind. They live on the property and make you feel completely at home. They definitely are what make the hostel. The owner speaks good English and was excited to share suggestions about what to see and do around Barranquilla. Hostel is located in a quiet neighborhood, but there are a few basic restaurants in walking distance.
Hostel has a great vibe. There are lots of common areas to meet people and a full kitchen to use. Hostel is located outside of the city, which actually makes it easier to get to. You can catch buses to Tayrona just two blocks from the hostel which is super convenient. There is a mall walking distance from the hostel also with a grocery store and ATMs. Overall great experience.
The hostel is quite large, so service is pretty impersonal. At night, it is incredibly loud. The main socializing area is in the center courtyard which is where all the rooms are, so at night you hear everything that is going on outside. The hostel also has so many guests that the water runs out frequently. It is not uncommon to lose water in the middle of your shower and then you just have to wait 10-15 minutes covered in soap for more water to be pumped into the tanks.
Great little hostel up on a hill over Minca. The walk up the steps with a full pack is quite a killer, but the view from the hostel is amazing. They are building some new facilities, and their newest dorm room is basically an open air tree house, which is awesome. Hostel has a great community vibe where everyone eats meals together at a big table. Great place to meet people and just relax in a hammock. Minca is a small town so you can get everywhere pretty quickly from the hostel.
By far the best place I stayed in Colombia. Staff are amazing and everyone knows your name by the end of the first day. The kitchen serves delicious, reasonably priced food. The pasta carbonera was amazing. The grounds are beautiful with a pool right in the middle. The beach at Palomino is empty which is amazing. You can walk down and claim your own private piece of sand and just relax.
The hostel is beautiful and set around a pool, but most of the rooms are private rooms so it is not necessarily the best place to meet people. Hostel is also located quite a few blocks from the heart of Taganga. It does not take long to walk, but at night it definitely is not the safest to walk to on your own.
