HI Santos Hostel

This was by far the most disgusting hostel we have stayed in over the past 3 months. It was so filthy we slept in our clothes since the sheets were the only thing that was clean. All of the lockers had been pried open at some point so no longer locked properly. The staff were friendly but this was the only pro. Couldn't wait to leave. I cannot believe they are an HI hostel since I was under the impression that standards had to be met.

Great hostel., very cool building. Free caiparinhas night was great, the owner happily told us to have as many as we wanted. We left before we could have the bbq dinner but it looked wonderful. Breakfast was great and even out earlier than scheduled. Great kitchen. Air conditioning and fans in the room were wonderful. Easy location to everything, would happily go back.

A nice hostel in the hills away from the hustle and bustle. A bit of a walk in the rain but otherwise fine. Wonderful breakfast of fruit, cereal, cake, ham and cheese rolls, juice, and good coffee. Very clean rooms. Only con was no soap in the bathrooms.

OK hostel up in the hills below a favela. Felt safe the whole time, very nice people and great cheap food in the area. Staff helpful, good breakfast. Rooms only have fans and can become unbearable on a hot day.

Giant hostel in a great location. Nice big breakfast. Staff are helpful but the front desk can get very busy. Small kitchen, but adequate to make basic meals. Only 5 forks in the whole place so bring your own. Only complaint is no soap in the bathroom in the room.

Loved this hostel, stayed extra nights. Free washing machine, just buy your own soap. Great breakfast with crepes and eggs. Free empanada class was fun, always tons of free wine. Staff are incredibly helpful and you can see them working to improve the hostel every day.

Great hostel for couples. Nice big private rooms. Adequate kitchen. Location ok, 20 minute walk from the bus station. No breakfast but no one in Valparaiso seemed to either.

Nice kitchen, we'll stocked. Breakfast was late every day. The cheap 6 bed room is cheap for a reason. It was a tiny space compared to the 8 bed dorm. Rooms were not cleaned but the of the hostel was OK for cleanliness.

A great hostel that makes you feel at home. We were greated by the owner on arrival with a glass of juice and bit of fruit cake. This was wonderful touch after a long bus ride. Breakfast included cereal, real English tea, fruit and bread with jam. If you need it earlier just let them know. Walking distance to the bus station, beach and supermarkets. Our dorm did not have lockers but we ended up with it all to ourselves so not an issue.

This has been our favorite hostel so far. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Someone runs around at 10 am to see if you need your life laundry done and then it's back that night. Had great amenities which include a bbq in the yard. Cleanest hostel we have stayed in. As soon as someone finished showering they would rush in and clean it for the next person. Hot water at last and if you run out they just change the propane tank. Basic breakfast of bread and jam. Tea all day.

Great family run Inn with a B and B feel. Loved watching the little kids wheel around on their big wheels. Great breakfast. If you want to cook you share with the owners. Not a ton of space around the bed in the double room shared bath but nice clean rooms.

We thought we would splurge on a nice room to discover the windows leaked in the rain and the whole room was molding due to the moisture. Staff are friendly but do not speak English as in previous reviews and provide no suggestions on activities so come prepared. Breakfast was very good, includes eggs, and toast.

Best eggs I have ever had, great new hostel. Rooms and bathrooms all very clean. Had the nicest kitchen we have seen in all of South America. Hired staff all very helpful. Only con was watching owner cut up raw chicken daily for his dog and then handle everything without washing his hands.
