I enjoyed being away from the CBD, but only a short 2 or 3 metro stops away. Though the long termers are fairly clique-y (that's to be expected), they were pretty welcoming and friendly all the same. So, good atmosphere. A comfortable party crowd, but nothing out of control. Wifi was great. Staff were super friendly. Best hostel I've found in Syndey (stayed at 4 or 5). Definitely recommend, I'm sure I'll be back.

Good location, right next to Central, short walk from heart of CBD. Kitchen is a little small, but it works. Glad to have wifi, but it's so slow it may as well not even be there - much better luck with the free unlimited wifi at the pub a few doors down. Also, wish they told me up front they don't give refunds if you want to cancel early - they only give vouchers for you to hold onto for your next stay, or to sell to someone else who might want to stay longer. All in all, recommend. Was alright.

If you're in uni, are generally pretty irresponsible and get wasted every night, you'll probably be fine. If you can 'remember your first beer,' then this place is a joke. After staying in NZ and Oz for 4 months, this was the dirtiest room I stayed in - boxes of wine all over the floor, trash cans knocked over, a general sense that no one gave a s***. Plus, the typical couple getting after it in the bed next to me - so ridiculous that people put up curtains for privacy, when you know what's up.
Hi there, Thanks a lot for telling us of your experience. It's really important to find out how our guests stay was. I'm sorry to hear your room mates were messy. Our housekeeping department checks and tidies all of our dorm rooms each morning, but I understand some guests can be a bit rowdy throughout the day! Please let us know if you visit again so we can ensure you have a more memorable stay! Wake Up! Management

Pretty solid place, location was great - not too far from or close to the city, a nice distance. Wish you could bring in your own alcohol. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Showers were good. I will confirm that everyone's comments regarding the squeaky floors is totally true; just incredibly loud. Other than that, good value for money. I'd recommend it.

I recommend, slightly. Owners were friendly, but woofing staff were rude (hey, it happens). Had some beers stolen from the fridge, so that sucked. Definitely a younger 'party' hostel, some general irresponsibility going on. Facilities were pretty solid, especially the showers. Kitchen was tiny, not suited for the number of people there.

Just pretty goddamn dirty all around. When i checked in, I walked into a 4-person room and had someone's clothes laying on my bed. Room was filthy, long-termer's trash and clothes were everywhere and didn't get cleaned until a full 2 days after I had been staying there. Facilities weren't the worst, but were far from good. I won't be back.

Fantastic staff, were totally cool about me wanting to change to bottom bunk. Facilities were the best I've seen in NZ, north to south. Though there are lots of long-termers, they're super friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere. Lounge is a bit small, but that's alright. Very cool place, definitely recommend.

Rating should be higher than an 83%, I'd give it a solid 90% based on location alone. Walk out the front door to a sweeping view of Onetangi Beach. So incredibly awesome. Place was slightly dirty, kitchen a bit small, but all in all a pretty cool place. Definitely recommend. Loved Waiheke, loved Onetangi. Kina was a great place to experience it.

In a word, 'meh.' Decent location up on K Road, but place just seems very small and crowded, everything is quite tight, slightly dirty. Can't turn the corner without running into someone. The facilities are pretty poor to be honest. Staff was friendly.

Only stayed here one night, but it was overall pretty solid. Staff were friendly, rooms were clean, nice lounge and outdoor patio area, decebt location. Just wish I could bring my own alcohol in, as that's forbidden because they sell their own there. Good place though, definitely recommend it.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. The Rotorua council dictate the liquor laws unfortunately this is out of my control. I must say it is nice not to have to clean up and read bad reviews about people over indulging on the booze and keeping others up. we try to bring you cheap ways to drink responsibly. beers here are around $5 and when you head out we give you 2 for 1 deals..... its a balance sometimes hard to find . thanks dude safe travels to you.

My rating is a bit biased, as I was there in late autumn when (literally) there wasn't another soul in the joint. I was the only person staying there (a bit creepy aactually). Anyway, so of course it was clean! Of course the security was great! Haha. If it was in peak season, though, I think I'd still recommend it. Difficult to say.

I wish I could give this a lower rating, solely due to the fact that this isn't as much of a hostel as it is a college dormitory. No one seems to really care about anything. Further, no alcohol is allowed to be consumed after 11pm (what if I just want to casually have a beer? I'm I'm not disturbing anyone?). Staff are friendly and helpful. Kitchens are small, a bit dirty. Again, just a very college atmosphere.

If you don't mind a 10 or 15 minute walk to Courtenay, Cuba and the like, then this place is the truth. Incredibly clean, super friendly, excellent staff, great kitchen, 24hr free wifi, good atmosphere where people drink but no one gets drunk and unruly, across the street from supermarket. Stayed in hostels all over NZ, and this was my 2nd favorite, but EASILY the best hostel in Wellington. Though my rating is only calculated at 89%, I'd say its more like 95%. Highly recommend. Wonderful place.

Place is alright. Definitely a bit of the party hostel, which is okay if that's what you're looking for. Staff were friendly, but fairly uninterested; just the usual 'get them in and out' sort of feel. Facilities were clean, but a bit ridiculous with sink and mirror on opposite walls - made shaving pretty annoying.

Great place to stay. A short walk from town, but certainly not far. Cool atmosphere, good size. Friendly staff. Decent showers. Nothing special, but definitely recommended.

This place is the truth, plain and simple. Location is very close to town, but not too close to the club scene. Atmosphere is conducive to people get getting to know each other. Good mix of older and younger travelers. Privacy curtains for sleeping and locked storage under your bed is a huge plus. Highly recommended.
