The Island Hotel Bali

Kuta, Indonesia

Love this place! Stayed 3 times on our travels round Bali. Good location, slightly out of the way from Kuta proper (this is a good thing!) but still plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Staff are excellent and extremely helpful, facilities also great (pool, restaurant, masseuse, satellite TV in the private rooms). The only annoyance is not being able to get wifi in the rooms (you can get it in common areas) but otherwise a great place to stay and meet people. Would recommend.

Great place! Traditional compound, with other families living around you. Breakfast great, wifi OK (not that strong), staff so helpful and really sweet. Cockerels a nuisance crowing at 5am but hey, it's Indonesia! Pebbles on the shower floor look nice but very uncomfortable to stand on and a bit smelly. Spotlessly clean elsewhere, room serviced daily. Much better than the previous reviews had lead me to believe. Great location off a Main Street but quiet. Close to supermarket. Would recommend.

Good wifi, good aircon, free breakfast (toast), great selection of DVD's. Tour company downstairs, so loads of free, local advice on tap! Recently moved to new location (2 weeks) and could have done with a final clean down of everything. Bedroom was clean

Decent wifi. Rooms a bit dark and dingy. TV in the bar with lots of cable channels but staff often watch it, so it's on the discovery channel a lot! Free tea

Nice place. Room was a decent enough size (locker in room), clean, common areas OK although not big or that comfy. Blankets too small for tall people! Great library of books, free use of PC w/internet. Yeah breakfast is only toast and jam but it's free! Vending machine on site for cold drinks (including beer). Staff knowledgable and helpful. Invited guests out to introduce them to each other, which is cool. Location great for Twin Towers (15 mins walk), lots of food places nearby too.

Very dirty, dorm door is always open (no lock), although lockers are provided. Bucket flush toilets only, showers just a trickle but enough to have a wash. Rooms without aircon are unbearably hot. Saw 3 rooms altogether - all a bit like prison. Staff are really nice though and v helpful - we asked to change room and it was no problem. Staff can also book travel and tours for you. Very cheap so you do get what you pay for. Wouldn't stay again though.
