I thought this was a reasonable hostel, however I accidentally broke a drinking glass and they charged me $2.50. Not really customer service, accidents happen.
Dear guest, we understand that accidents can happen and because of that we don't charge when minor things get damaged or broken, I have the copy of your receive and I did not find any charge being made besides the payment for the stay. At the Black Cat we take care of every guest as part of our family, trying to make everyone feel comfortable with us, I apologize if you had any inconvenience, we will be glad to host you again if you come back to Asuncion. Best regards from the staff!

Brilliant!!! Bruno and his whole family are terrific, they provide the best service and the hostel is very comfortable too. Mama Brasil is one of the best hostels in South America.

I booked a double with private bathroom on HW but I got a twin & no private bathroom - blatant misleading advertising on HW - they only offered R20 discount off price of R160! The room was stark and the doors to the balcony didn't lock either. They were pushy with tour sales and charged 20-25% more than other places. Staff tried to book an expensive airport shuttle and not a taxi that I asked for. They only want to make money and were rude. Also the internet only worked in the reception area!
We are really surprised about this review. This guest made a reservation in a room that we don't even has anymore (HW error). So instead of paying R$160 for a night, we charge him R$120,80 (almost R$40 each night of discount). About tours, we indicated him a FREE Walking Tour in Downtown, totally FREE of charge. At check-out time, the guest ask us to book a transfer service in advance, of course is a little bit more expensive then a normal cab. We are really sorry, but we did our best!

Great location, just outside the old town with lots of little restaurants and bars to choose from nearby. Very social hostel and lots of fun, but not the best if you want to go to bed early, all rooms overlook the courtyard, which they shut down at midnight I think, which is reasonable. They offer lots of info and bookings for Playa Blanca, Santa Marta, Panama San Blas Islands, and more. Very convinient for lazy people.

The hostel actually overbooked and messed up my booking. They gave my private room to someone else, which was very disappointing when I arrived at 8:30pm. However, they did go above and beyond, to resolve the situation - they rang around to other hostels, booked a private room for me, and paid for my new accommodation for the 3 nights I had originally booked, as well as paying for the taxi to get there. I've worked in tourism for over 15 years and I was very impressed with this service.
Thank you for your kind words. Again, we are extremely sorry that we could not honor your reservation with hostelworld, resolving the problem the way that we did was the least that we could do. We are glad that you were satisfied with our ability to make up for our mistake, but we really wish you could have spent that time that you reserved with us in our hostel. Again we apologize for any inconvenience, you are always welcome at our hostel.

The common are provided a great place to meet people, the staff were terrific and the location great. However it's very old, dirty and in need of renovations. The bed linen & pillows were at least 20 years old and well used. There was only 1 male toilet on the first floor which is inadequate.

Great service, small family run hostel with everything. The hammocks on the roof are awesome. The area in old Cali has few tourists and lots of great restaurants and cafés. I even indulged in some salsa dancing and rum with friendly locals in the streets. This is an awesome place to experience genuine Colombian culture and hospitality.

Great family run hostel, convenient central location, this is a quiet hostel but the party hostel with rooftop is just across the street for fun. Excellent wi-fi and really helpful staff!

This hostel is great! We met most of the Peruvian family who run this hostel, and we felt like they invited us into their home. The offered so mich information and advice for exploring the local attractions, they cooked breakfast at a time that suited us, and provided great hospitality.

The rooms had lots of weird windows and glass doors that opened out onto the corridor making for lots of light and noise while you try to sleep at night. The hostel was not heated and we were freezing at night. Hot water was intermittent. Most of all the staff were unhelpful and rude. When they discovered we had already booked another company for the salar tour, they were rude to us and refused to assist us from then on. Because of this they lost our business on accommodation when we returned
