HI Siem Reap

Siem Reap, Cambodia

Really nice hostel, close to town and very clean. The staff were great. I arrived at 6am on an overnight bus from Phnom Penh and they were happy to let me stay even though my booking wasn't until that night. Also the following day I left my bags there all day. Great BBQ close by and staff can assist with getting to Angkor Wat and the temple area.

Lily's Hostel

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

This hostel is just the cutest. Lily and the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. The location is so close to everything HCMC has to offer and the free breakfast id delicious. A great spot to meet fellow travellers - I'd highly recommend.

Collingwood Backpackers is everything a true hostel should be - relaxed, friendly, welcoming, full of character. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are clean, it’s close to Smith St and Brunswick St and only a tram ride from the CBD. It attracts a really cool crowd of long termers and those staying a few days in the city. And the building itself is just gorgeous - highly recommended.

This hostel is in a pretty good location, close to the underground station and supermarkets, etc. The rooms, bathrooms and hostel in general are clean and modern, but it does lack a bit of atmosphere and has a bit of a school camp hotel kind of feel. The beds are really comfortable and spacious. It would have been nice to have the lockers in the rooms instead of 6 floors downstairs and the staff were a bit rude during busy times. A bit expensive, but that's Berlin.

Dear C., Thank you for your open words and that you took your time for sending us your review. we are happy to read that the general facility was fine with you. MEININGER wants to offer all kind of travelers a room or bed. So our guests are groups as well as indies. Your dorm was a 4 bedroom. Lockers are in our 6 bedrooms. But lockers were available. We want to apologize for rude behaviour, even if it was probalby due to stress. Hope to welcome you again! Yours MEININGER

This place was such amazing value. I was in the 10 bed dorm and for about $9, it had everything - individual lockers, reading lights, shelves, very clean bathrooms, comfortable beds, breakfast, free shot, beer garden. The staff were helpful and the hostel is close to Old Town but not right in amongst the crowds. Walking distance to Podgorze, Kazimierz.

Budget Backpackers

Edinburgh, Scotland

This hostel is ideally located in Cowgate, close to the castle and Royal Mile as well as the bars and nightlife of Lamnmarket. The rooms are spacious, individual lockers available next to each bed, clean bathrooms, breakfast and bar was good fun. Great value for the price. I love Edinburgh!

Ashton House Hostel

Manchester, England

This place is a huge old building with a huge dorm room of about 30 beds. Some are behind curtains which create private rooms but most are not. If you're just after a bed and a relatively clean bathroom, this place is fine. It is a bit out of town though and it's cold, huge and to be honest a little creepy. Not much of a backpacker atmosphere but I did meet a few cool people.

Phoenix Hostel

London, England

Quite a nice hostel for a night near Edgeware Road. The free breakfast was great, staff really friendly and helpful and all the facilities you would expect. The bar downstairs is cosy and atmospheric and it's easy to meet fellow travellers. Great to watch some World Cup matches on the big screen here. Comfortable beds, would recommend.

No.8 Tottenham

London, England

The Aussie girl on reception was lovely! The hostel is fine if you're looking for just a few nights. It's a bit of a hike on the train from central London but Tottenham is a pretty cool place to be. The bedrooms are ok if not a little cramped and there was not much atmosphere (maybe because England had been kicked out of the World Cup already). Lockers in the rooms and free internet was nice. Bathrooms could have been cleaner.

City Backpacker - Hostel Biber

Zurich, Switzerland

Excellent hostel with a lovely receptionist. The bathrooms, bedrooms, common area are all of a very high standard and no free internet (except wifi). The only negative is that it's a bit pricey, but that's Zurich. Thank god for the supermarket.

Hostel Orquideas

Cancun, Mexico

Absolutely wonderful! The owners are the most beautiful people that go well above and beyond to look after their guests. Breakfast AND dinner everyday at the communal table which is excellent for meeting other travellers. Free wifi and internet laptop available, hammocks, kitchen, etc. And it's right in the heart of 'real' Cancun not the Americanised Hotel Zone. I would highly recommend Hostel Orquideas and hope to return in the future. Thanks again guys!

This is a pretty decent Super 8. I arrived very late and they were happy to accomodate me and even organised a tour of Memphis for the next day (as I only had 24 hours to see the place). The breakfast was nice and the room clean and satisfactory. Quite good value for what you pay.

AAE Bourbon House Hostel

New Orleans, USA

Great value for money considering it was like $20 a night. It's relatively close to AMAZING New Orleans Downtown/French Quarter and Walmart if you need anything. The staff were great and helped me organise tours, etc. It's a pretty chikked aout place, always someone around that's up for a chat or drink. Would recommend...

USA Hostels San Diego

San Diego, USA

This is a high quality hostel - there's not a lot more you could ask for! The softest, most comfortable bed I've slept on in my whole 3 months travelling. The location is incredible, you walk outside right into the Gaslamp Quarter - literally between two busy, hip restaurants! It's clean, friendly, there's even iPads free to use if you need. If I had one tiny criticism it would be the fact you need a really big lock for the in room lockers (small ones don't fit) but everything else was great!
