The rooms are probably the best thing about this hostel / guesthouse - they're of a good standard and clean and the beds are really comfortable. The shower facilities are also decent and hot. Another plus is the wi-fi which is fast. I had a good stay here. That being said - be warned that you will not meet other travellers here, it is definitely more of a guesthouse and the location is set some distance away from where things are happening. The staff also speak v.little English but are friendly.
Lovely hostel, close to the airport and Bophut. The dorm rooms are very spacious and have comfortable beds, each with their own power socket and light. There is a communal area with sofas and a massive screen with plenty of DVDs to watch for a quiet night in. The hostel is very clean throughout and the staff are friendly and helpful. The location is a little out from the main party areas but it's not difficult or expensive to get to and from them. I really liked this place and would recommend.
The guys who run this place are friendly and really want to help. The location is also great if you want to be close to the action in Sairee. Unfortunately, there are quite a few negatives - very basic dorm rooms with no lights for each bed and few charging sockets. As the room is small you won't get much sleep after 7/8am when ppl are getting up and you can also hear most of whats happening outside your room. Out of 3 sinks, 1 was completely broken and another hanging off the wall.It needs work
The pros - Helpful staff, great location, free snorkeling gear and Reef Bar opposite is a great place to hang out with free pool. The Norwegian girl who works on the desk is also smoking hot! The cons - rooms are dark and dingy, the toilet / shower area smells very bad and is loud in the hostel as there is no cloth or proper floor so it's echoey and you can hear everything everyone is saying whether they're in your room or the bathroom! It's an OK hostel overall but could use a bit of work...
Ananas is a lovely hostel run by a lovely family who are very attentive and helpful. The place has a nice community feel about it and every day you met someone new. Food and drink is very cheap there which you can enjoy by the nice pool they have. Just 2 considerations - 1.) the location, costs between 500 - 800bht to get to Chewang and takes 30 - 45mins depending on when you go. 2.) The bar shuts at 8.30pm - which is a factor because of the secluded location. Other than that, brilliant.
Faultless hostel. Has a lovely owner who is extremely helpful - she helped plan our trips and evenings around Bangkok and even went to get us a cab to negotiate a good route to the airport when we left. The rooms are clean and comfy and there is a good communal area to meet other travellers and hangout. 100%
Really nice hostel with very helpful and friendly staff. They've thought of a lot of things to cater for the traveller and things like serving the free breakfast until whatever time you want is a nice touch. The rooms are pretty good though the beds could be a little comfier. Wi-fi is excellent throughout the hostel.
Great stay at Oak Hostel. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms were a decent size with everything you needed. Wi-fi was fast and they provided computers also which you could use free of charge. The communal area isn't a huge amount to speak of - so not sure it is 100% the best place to meet other travelers - but other than that a super hostel who will take care of you well and good value for money.
Lovely little guesthouse. Owner is super helpful in helping you plan routes around the park and even walked me to the bus stops. Also organized a taxi to the airport when I left. The property is ideally located very close to the train station and airport and also the main bus station for getting to the park. Tianmen mountain cableway is less than a 10min walk. Only downside is for a backpacker is that there is no communal area to meet other travellers - but this is more of a hotel not a hostel.
I stayed at Wada in Yangshuo after an exceptionally brilliant experience at Wada in Guilin (the best hostel I have ever stayed in). Wada Yangshuo did not disappoint with the same super friendly, helpful and personable service from the staff who all speak perfect English. The facilities were actually even better being a newer hostel with v.comfy beds and well equipped rooms and communal areas. Another fantastic stay and great experience with Wada and the girls (and Jason... of course!). Murphey!
Not just the best hostel in China, but the best I have ever stayed in!! Super friendly, helpful and at many times hilarious staff - who all speak English exceptionally well. Rooms and facilities are in good condition and well maintained with wi-fi available throughout the hostel. The best aspect has to be the atmosphere which is facilitated through a great bar and socializing areas and the staff who are always smiling and up for a laugh. Well done Wada! I will miss you. From Murrrrrphhheeeeyyyy!
Great stay at Mr. Panda! Staff are super friendly and helpful and most speak English v.well. Rooms are comfortable with decent facilities. The communal areas downstairs make for a nice atmosphere amongst guests and a great opp to meet fellow travelers. Wi-fi also works well. Top rate travelers hostel.
Basic hostel - does the job for being a cheap place to sleep v.close to the park entrance. Staff are also very friendly and helpful. Negatives would be the hostel beds - extremely hard even for China... as well as the toilet and shower facilities. The wi-fi is temperamental but when working an OK speed.
