Modern stylish hostel just across the river from Manhattan in Queens. I liked coming back to a quieter place after the relentless bustle of Manhattan. Includes a very nice bar, although it can be a bit noisy in the weekends. Wi-fi was not very good, the rest of the facilities were good to excellent. As for the prize, I know it's New York and there is no budget alternative, but I just find it ridiculous to pay over $60 for a bed in a shared room. Still recommended.

Very well located hostel, smack in the center of the downtown area. Good facilities and nice breakfast. Price is too high. I know it's San Francisco, but $60 for a bed in a shared room remains a bit ridiculous. Not many alternatives though if you want to go "budget".

Very good hostel 5 minutes' walk from the city center, but still quiet. The rooftop common room/bar/restaurant is a perfect lounging place after a hard day's temple raiding. The dorm beds are huge and clean, and the girls of the staff are all smiles all day :-) All in all an excellent place to stay.

Good and clean hostel on the edge of the old city. It's quite big and a bit crowded, which contrasts a bit with the quiet atmosphere of the town. If you are after social contact, it's a good place to stay. But if you want to soak up more of the Luang Prabang spirit, I'd recommend getting a room in a guesthouse in the old town, which should not cost you much more than a dorm bed here.

Great hotel/hostel combination in a quiet corner of the old city, but still within walking distance of the main sites. The girls at the reception are super friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is laid-back and quiet (no party hostel this, thankfully) and the common area is one of the best I ever seen, where you can order delicious food and smoothies - or take dip in the small swimming pool.

Good and clean hostel in Bangkok's main tourist area. Excellent value for money if you want a good bed for a few nights.

No thrills, but efficient and well-run hotel/hostel in the Mumbai Fort area. I stayed in the 4-bed dorm, which was fine. There is a big locker in which you can put all your things and they cleaned the beds every day. The Fort area is a much better area to stay in than Colaba, which is much more crowded and touristy. This hostel/hotel is as good as a budget place you can find, and everything is in walking distance. Recommended.

Good hostel, 10 minutes walk to both train station and old town. Being a big hostel it misses a bit of character, but it's a good choice for a day or two in Wroclaw.

Marvelous little hostel, located exactly between the Old Town and Kasimierz, both within 5 minutes walking. The interior is stylish and bright (we had the New York room, which opened up to a little outdoor terrace ), the atmosphere is quiet, there is a good kitchen and the internet is lighting fast. Top hostel !

This hotel/hostel is a useful base for trips to the mountains and other nearby attractions. The lodgings themselves are nothing special and the breakfast is overpriced (5€ for a standard mediocre hotel breakfast is too much), but they provide a discount for the huge Aquacity swimming and sauna center next door, which is nice after a day of hiking (take the "Vital" option to get into all the different saunas).

Beautiful hostel in the city center, a few minutes walk from the metro. The common area is just lovely and very comfortable and the staff is great. The price is a bit on the high side though (100 yuan for a dorm room). When you go to the wall, take the "hiking" tour. It's amazing and not that hard.
Hi There, thanks for your useful information and highly recommendation, we will add more culture issue to make our guests' stay have more fun! Cheers!

Well-organised hostel in the center of the city. The free dumpling party on Friday is fun and the internet is the best I've encountered in China (usually the internet is pretty bad). Take into account that the common area is also the bar, which has no daylight and is usually pretty noisy. Another point is that the beds (at least in the 4 bed dorm) don't have their own sockets or lights. I would have expected that for the 90 yuan I paid per night.
Thanks for your review,we have install the own lights in the dorm room, and we also install the bed curtain.Much better than before. Welcome to come there again if you have free time!

Beautiful and laid back hostel with a very nice common area. It's a bit out of the way of the sights, but it's worth it to come back to a place like this after a hard day's sight seeing. And the metro is close enough.

Practical hostel in the center of Kunming. The main thing to take into account is that the common room and terrace (with a very nice view) double as a bar, so there's not always a quiet place to relax, especially at night. I had some troubles with the wifi, even more so than in other places in China.

Nice and relaxed hostel on the edge of the old town, but perfect to explore the town. Good breakfasts and nice atmosphere. My only negative point is that I chose the deluxe double room (wanting to spoil myself after two night trains in a row), but it was quite a bit run down.

Great place to stay if you want to go up Ermei Shan and/or see the Leshan buddha. You can leave your extra gear in the hostel without charge. Don't forget the hot springs. They're really good and the hostel provides a discount.

The enthusiastic staff and great atmosphere make this a great place to stay in Chengdu. There are tips and trips aplenty for the city and around and it's next to Chengdu's main bus station. A few minor negative points: Internet was a bit "on and off" (although I did just arrive from Seoul, so maybe it isn't fair to compare) and they could have a few more (shared) bathrooms and showers. The common room is amazing though.
Thank you for your suggestion. We have fixed our internet:) It won't be problem when you are here next time. And there are showers and bathrooms on every floor. I am sorry we didn't tell you in time before. We apologize for the inconvenience. Hope we will have a chance to have you stayed in our hostel next time . Best

Spotless hostel with great facilities, including top-notch Wifi and one of the nicest common rooms you will see in any hostel. The staff is very friendly and helpful (and can show you the ins and outs of a Korean barbecue). The location is a bit further away, but the area is quieter and more laid-back than for instance Hongdae, although there are still plenty of cafés, shops and bars nearby.

Well-located hostel for the airport and going out in Hongdae. The hostel itself is a bit small and cramped with limited shower/toilets and not a good common room. The staff is friendly and helpful though.

Great laid-back hostel in in a stylish modern house in a quiet area of Kyoto. The lovely owners are expert travelers who can help you with anything you need, including giving Japanese cooking lessons. One of the best hostels I visited in my time in Japan.

Located close to the station, so an excellent place to base yourself for Matsumoto and the surrounding area. Even more importantly, Shiko and Brian (the very knowledgeable owner couple) are the most fun hosts you will encounter and they made the hostel into a great place to stay.
"A base for Matsumoto and the surrounding areas." We couldn't have put it better ourselves! There is so much more to see and do beyond our famous National Treasure castle. Happy to help you make the most of your stay.

Lovely Japanese-style hostel in the Kurashiki's old town center. The location is good for exploring the Kurashiki area. I even went to Miyajima from there on a day trip which is perfectly doable. The staff is very enthusiastic and friendly, more so than other hostels in Japan, and their enthusiasm makes the stay something you'll remember. Note that they rearrange the rooms every day, so you have to pack and unpack your bag every day as you're likely to to change rooms.

Almost perfectly set up hostel with everything you would like in a hostel: good kitchen, nice common room, excellent showers, good beds and room for your backpack and stuff, information on trips, etc. Perhaps because of it all being (almost) perfect, it misses a bit of character though.

Beautiful Japanese ryokan-style hostel (for a hostel price), with the country's oldest bath house around the corner. The staff was excellent, the breakfast good, and the location is perfect for exploring Matsuyama and Dogo. Without a doubt the best hostel I stayed in during my 4 weeks in Japan.

Great hostel for Nara and surroundings (close to the station). There is a great common room (always important), but the atmosphere is nice and quiet. The owners, a young Japanese couple, are very friendly and helpful - and they make an excellent breakfast.
