Some good, some bad. Good - the hostel guide Michael is fantastic, highly recommend doing a tour with him. Hostel is in a great spot
Rooms and bathroom are small, and doesn't have the same quality of facilities as others but was still a nice hostel. It had a good vibe, be that chilled and we had a good stay here.
Good hostel, atmosphere lacking a bit though.
Fantastic backpackers resort. A few minor annoyances, they did not have any wifi for the full three days we were there, the buffet breakfast was okay but they had stale cereal, and no fault of the hostel but the bugs there are unrelenting. Bring lots of bug spray. On the whole though a great place to stay.
We had fantastic stay. It's a taxi ride to the city centre and decent restaurants but it's near a big supermarket and a great spot to get to everywhere else. The staff were extremely informative, keen to help and they also serve meals. Oh and the pool tops it all off. A top shelf hostel!
Staff were great. Breakfast ok. Location is just out of La Mariscal so a bit dodgy, needed to catch taxis most places at night especially. Great for a relaxed stay if your not worried about taking taxis everywhere.
We had a great stay at princessa Maria. The kitchen was small with limited utilities which made it difficult to cook, especially when breakfast is not included. We ask a couple of times to clean our bathroom but they forgot both times. It was also a little noisey from traffic and a little way from the main square. However these were all minor things, the owner Victor is extremely friendly and helpful, and it was good value for money. We would definately return!
The owners were fantastic. Extremely helpful and accomodating. Great place to chill and unwind.
This is a big hostel meaning a lot of people. Subsequently the wifi here was not great. You can only pay here with Visa or Soles and if you want to pay in US then they give you a shocking rate (2.55). Also the travel desk people were very unhelpful. We had a good stay here but wasn't one of the most enjoyable.
The bed sank and was horrible, and the pillows were basically blocks which meant we slept horribly. Worst breakfast in South America, only coffee and two small thin pieces of short bread and could not help yourself for more. Expected much better considering the previous reviews. Staff were very nice but I'd look elsewhere.
Staff were extremely helpful, really nice place. Highly recommend!!
A great hostel not far from the bus terminal. They organized evening bbqs, daily activities and the breakfast had freshly cooked omlets, crambled eggs and pancakes. Highly recommend!!!
A nice quite place on the edge of SanTelmo. The staff were great with recommendations. The area is a bit quiet so we needed to be careful at night getting to places. Not the place to meet people but good for a couple of quiet days.
Everything you want in a hostel, great atmosphere, heaps of organized tours/activities and it wasn't as loud as we were expecting. The breakfast wasn't flash but overall an excellent stay.
It is located in a really nice area called Palermo with great food and nightlife. Would not recommend this place for single travellers or if you want to party as it's very hard to meet people as the hostel did not organise or promote anything. Being in the best nightlife area they did not organise anything for even a Friday and Saturday night,. The staff were nice but not very helpful as they gave us poor information which led us to closed or booked out activities which was frustrating.
We took a risk on choosing Nomads due to a lack of reviews but being 87%. Unfortunately the room we booked had many problems. The on-suite toilet regurgitated what should have been sewage before it was even used and stank for our whole stay. The room was extremely noise sensitive, the bed sheets had holes in them, the shower curtain rail was wedged onto the wall with a rock, which ended up falling, the a/c didn't work and without a fan and room was damp. A great location but that was about it.
A beatiful location, we went in low season and it was very quiet but they hostel still organized trips to nightspots. Recommend going in thier high season as they organize some amazing stuff. Renting wetsuits and boards for free was a great plus. They offered cheap Italian meals for dinner which were fantastic, awesome ravioli. Showers weren't the hottest but that wouldn't matter in the warmer months. Overall a really nice stay when the island was at its quietest.
The staff at reception were fantastic and extremely helpful. Wifi dropped in and out a bit was fine. It is situated a little further from the beach than others but is extremely close to a subway which was great to get around, especially to Lapa.
Wifi here would cut in and out all the time. Being on my own it was also very hard to meet people as there was no atmosphere. Toilet facilities were cleaned daily but were in a very poor state. I would recommend this only for a quick one night stay. Was way overpriced even for the World Cup but that's Rio. The big positive is it is very close to Copacobana beach and not too far from Ipanema as well.
