Well placed hostel for exploring ponta negra. Clean rooms/bathrooms/kitchen. Relaxing communal areas. Only criticism is that we were encouraged to book an airport transfer 30 minutes later than we had wanted to, but we did not leave at this time. The member of staff who took us was sleeping, and was not woken until 10 minutes after our transfer time. This could be avoided though by allowing an extra 15 mins when booking your airport transfer (cheaper than taxi).
Ana and her husband are excellent hosts. They prepared a BBQ and afternoon tea whilst we were there, as it was raining on two consecutive days. They have lots of useful information for guests and even gave us a lift to the beach. The hostel is out of the main area but is only a 10 minute walk to shops/bus stop. It can be very noisy if you stay in a private room above the bar, mainly because the neighbour plays competing loud music with the hostel! It quietens down after 11/12.
This is a great hostel! Wonderful, friendly, English speaking staff (who even came with me to the hospital to translate when I was sick). Amazing breakfasts of eggs, bread, cake, lots of fruit! Hot showers. Unable to award excellent for facilities/cleanliness only due to a lack of bowls/cups in kitchen and a flooded bathroom (rain) which wasn't cleaned up in 2 days. But there are plenty of bathrooms to choose from.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was amazing, and location great. Unfortunately our room was mouldy and damp. We were there during a rainy spell, which nobody can help, but a spring clean could do the room a world of good. Also, our shower was variable - luke warm most of the time.
Nice family run hostel in San Telmo. Great location for San Telmo area and market, roughly 20 minutes walk to main city centre. Clean, quiet rooms and plenty of clean and well presented bathrooms with guaranteed stream/hot water. Not a party hostel - difficult to interact with other guests as no lounge. Kitchen small but sufficient to cook a meal. Only problem is smell of smoke sometimes.Would recommend for singles or couples looking for a nice budget place to stay out of the main tourist zone.
Hostel Estoril is lovely! Great rooms, fantastic breakfast, super helpful and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend!
Great atmosphere. Horse riding was amazing! Free wine was...lethal! Showers not great but ok. Breakfast and free washing machine amazing!

Great atmosphere at this hostel with campfire at night and chilled out courtyard to relax in during the day. The kitchen facilities were good enough to make a meal but they needed more clean tea towels (difficult to dry dishes and hands without these!). Hot showers most of the time, didn't work one morning. Noise a bit of an issue if staying in the room opposite reception, but they did reduce the noise when asked - appreciated!
Wasi Masi is a good value, clean hostel close to the centre of sucre. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a small kitchen to cook a limited meal.
The couple who run this hostel are lovely. They offered us a lift into down at a discounted taxi rate. They arranged a taxi for us in the morning and got up early to make us breakfast - delicious pancake and bread/jam. The hostel itself is clean but very cold and a bit dark. It is also a bit out of town - would be fine if it wasn't raining!
Great location and staff. Good value for the area. Very helpful place to stay if doing a trek as there is secure luggage storage and lockers. Good coffee at breakfast. Kitchen is a bit small and not very well equipped so it's difficult to make a full meal in there.
Great location, great staff. Helpful for when you arrive early and need somewhere to hang out until check in. Nice rooms. Could do with some more tea towels in the kitchen!
Good clean hostel with friendly and helpful manager who can arrange nazca lines tours at the drop of a hat. A locked security room and TV room would bring the security and facilities ratings from good to excellent.
