Hostel Mundo Maya

Cancun, Mexico

Unfortunately this place just had no atmosphere and was falling apart. We also paid extra to have a private room but the wall wasn't connected to the roof so it was really noisy. No AC or fans. The owners didn't speak English (not a bad thing, just unusual in Cancun). would not room end.

Tower Bridge Backpackers

Puerto Escondido, Mexico

Favourite hostel in Mexico!! The atmosphere was amazing, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Puerto Escondido is the coolest little beach town and I would highly recommend this hostel for your stay. Also seems like a good place to try and find work for a couple of weeks.

Azul Cielo Hostel

Oaxaca, Mexico

Really cute hostel. Very pretty. The staff are nice and lots of board games etc to keep you entertained. 15min walk from the Zocalo.

Hostal La Ermita Merida

Merida, Mexico

hostel is a bit of a walk from the city centre, but amazing pool, extremely clean rooms, good big bunk beds.

Pueblito Hostel

Cancun, Mexico

Hector is a fantastic host who is very accommodating, and the prices are very good.

BA Stop

Buenos Aires, Argentina

A fun little hostel that's small enough so that you get to know most of the people in the hostel! Breakfast is better than a lot I had in South America. Showers are hot and beds are super comfortable. Very cheap for this area of Buenos Aires.

Submarino Hostel

Florianopolis, Brazil

Maybe my favourite hostel in South America! The staff really went well beyond what was required and did everything they could to get you to the best things in Florianopolis. Breakfast was AMAZING, huge selection of stuff. Beds were very comfortable and rooms quite spacious. The hostel has lots of things for hire, bikes, kayaks, body boards etc.

Copacabana 4U

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

It's good to get a hostel quite cheap close to Copacabana but for what I paid I was entirely unimpressed. Just quite dirty, the beds were awful and mouldy and I'd hate to be someone who got stuck on the top of a triple bunk bed! The place smelt quite musty and the bathrooms were very dirty and there weren't enough! Great location though, and good breakfast.

definitely less wild than its cusco and la paz counterparts but a good atmosphere none the less. always had stuff going on during the days. bit of a party hostel but not so overwhelmingly that you can't just chill out somewhere.
