The Happy House Zone, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The were many other Happy Houses, which made it a confusing ride on the TukTuk. Upon finally arriving, there was the joyful climb up four flights of stairs to a room that (thankfully) had fans at all beds. That's right: each bed had its own fan. Much needed in the absence of air-conditioning. The balcony was a nice relief and provided a nice hangout since the rooms were quite stuffy. I wasn't too happy to receive a worn, used map, but I suppose it was better than nothing. Towels aren't included.

Just mention "Bliss Villa" at the airport transport counter and you can get a motorbike to send you to the hostel doorstep for $2. Awesome, sturdy beds that are wide, and don't creak when you move around. I had initially arranged for the hostel to pick me up at the airport, but they forgot! The hostel is also at the end of a long, quiet road. You might want company with you if you're arriving late at night. Oh, and perhaps common bathrooms would be better than having 10 girls share one bathr

The day trips to Seville and Segovia were cancelled the week I was there so that was a disappointment. Other than that, the hostel was a good place to hang out with plenty of facilities and activities if the weather isn't good outside. There are computers available to use, a supermarket to get food to cook in the kitchen the hostel provides, and the metro is just a sneeze away. I (and a lot of other guests in the same room) had difficulty using the key cards to open the door at times.

I made a mistake with my booking dates and the hostel responded quickly and were able to help me. Upon arrival they showed me around and told me about what was free and what was not. It´s 1,50Eur if you tell them the day before that you want breakfast, but otherwise it´s 3,00Eur. Laundry is 3,00Eur for washing only but they have a clothesline, or you can pay another 3,00Eur for dryer. The directions to the hostel was very precise and helpful. Plenty of things to see and do within walking distanc

Superb location within walking distance to the tourist sites, with many nearby cheap restaurants/bars. The room I stayed in was cool even when outside was a blazing 39 degrees, we didn´t really need the air-conditioning. Shower was a bit small and easily got dirty. My roommate had switched my bed for hers and the hostel was not careful enough to make sure this did not happen. Wifi worked fine, but there isn´t a socket by each bed. Would stay again based on the location and value for money.

I would have been appreciative of a more exact directions other than `two blocks away from Tetuan station`. There are plenty bars and Supermercats along the way, as is in the whole of Barcelona. The common area is spacious and you can cook whatever you want. There are also subway and city maps decorating the walls which is pretty handy. You can help yourself to the washing machine, but there is no dryer. You can hang your clothes at the terraza or in the washing room itself. Thumbs up!

Not cool that we have to pay for luggage storage. The under-bed "pounds" require large padlocks, so bring them if you want to lock up the cages. Spacious rooms; mine was overlooking the canal. Convenient that there was a sink in the room. Curtains for each bed was also good. The gap between the bed and the wall could be dangerous.

This was my second stay at Vintage Boutique Hostel and I certainly did not regret returning. Perhaps just put up curtains at the windows. It was quite a shock to me and my dormmates to wake up to the construction workers painting away right outside our windows (also since the windows weren't locked). They didn't disturb us or anything, it was just a bit of a shock.

The directions were hard to follow and during my stay all of the guests that appeared had the same story - we all got lost in the forest trying to find the hostel. Perhaps put up more signs, given that it is a lot of trails and trees, asking people is not always an option. Also, it was very scary that there appeared to be no staff with us up on that cliff and people kept appearing from the forest lost and afraid in the middle of the night. However, the view from the cliff was indeed spectacular.
