Excellent location, particularly if you don't have a car. Lots of attractions within walking distance. The 6-bed dorm I stayed in was comfortable enough, but very hot (no air con) and there were only 3 power outlets in the room. Bathrooms were generally very clean and there were plenty of them. Staff seemed friendly. Wifi was a bit temperamental, particularly in the lobby. Breakfast is basic and the kitchen is way too small. Other guests were quiet - no parties here, thank God. Good overall.

Hostel on 3rd

To be honest, for the price I expected it to be a dive. It certainly wasn't - the beds were firm, the bathrooms were plentiful and always clean and the wifi was consistent. Great location - central, but slightly away from the street noise. Nice big common area. The owner was friendly. Downsides? The kitchen was too small (I had to eat breakfast on the stairs) and used as a noisy gathering place after the common room shut at midnight. Dorms are a little small and there are no reading lights.

Nice, safe location next to the lake - peaceful and scenic (great for walking or running). Those moaning about the distance to downtown are simply too lazy to walk - it takes about 30 minutes (or you can get a bus). Facilities were good - wifi worked well, kitchen was fully stocked, decent breakfast (but no milk), and the bathrooms were generally clean. It's certainly quiet, so those seeking raucous parties best stay away. My only quibble was the absence of reading lights in the dorms.

This hostel is in a good location - easy walking distance to the French Quarter. There are lots of areas to sit and relax in, the cooking facilities are decent and the wifi works brilliantly. On the negative side, the bathrooms could have been cleaner, there are no reading lights in the dorms or laundry facilities and the breakfast is lacklustre (toast with peanut butter and jam). It's definitely not a party hostel, which was on a bonus for me, but some social events would have been nice.

Sorry about your experience with my bathroom area. I try to keep as clean as possible. There is a board by the front entrance that has suggested nightly activities. I might need to move its location though since you are not the first to miss it. Thanks for the review!

The only positive thing I can say about this place is that it's in a convenient location, particularly if you're coming on public transport. It is, however, part-hostel and part-halfway house. Several drunken characters skulk around at all hours. I got a private room - fixtures and fittings were falling apart, the bedspread had tiny insect-chewed holes in it and the bathroom was a sort of 70s-era Motel 6-style. The internet didn't work at all. Stay away - it's unclean and unsafe.
