Riad Elsagaya

Marrakech, Morocco

Mixed feelings sadly - a lovely riad that offers a real sanctuary from the craziness of the street. Our room was nice, the pool and rooftop terrace were great and for the best art, the staff were very helpful. The sour taste left though was when we when we booked the room for one more evening; we were told this was sorted only to be told later in the day that another booking for 3x nights had come in, effectively kicking us out, as it was 'better for business'. Mystery tax of 5€ a night

A beautiful hostel with stunning views of the Alhambra - if you have any say in it, book room 41 for the view alone! Very chilled place, the staff were really helpful... Cost to use the laundry seemed a bit steep though

Smart Hyde Park Inn

Location right next to Hyde Park and a major train station were great. Lockers not working in the room, tiny common space/kitchen downstairs, the bathroom in our room was nasty and the stairs felt like the needed some structural work - not the best when having to soldier up 5 narrow flights of stairs with a pack.
