This is a great family run hostel where the staff go out of the way to help. We enjoyed our stay very much. To get here climb aboard the airport shuttle bus and they will drop you outside the street entrance steps - be prepared for a steep 150m climb up to the hostel entrance. The only issue we can think of that could improve the stay are that the mosquito nets to our bed was ill-fitting - we used our own in the end and, the bed linen and blankets could do with an upgrade.

This Dutch-Malawian venture is simply the best place to stay in Zomba having a good range of accommodation and facilities within an attractive compound in walking distance from the town center. The food and accommodation is reasonably priced, good quality but what makes it attractive is the good atmosphere from community project professionals, artists to travellers and, the very helpful staff. If you are taking a 'must do' trip up the Zomba Plateau then the local Isaac is highly recommended.

Lusaka Backpackers poor & over priced -suffers from a direct comparison with accommodation in Livingstone where for same price/room we had a bigger room with TV, kettle, A/C & furniture plus staff services were more proactive and attentive from getting bus tickets, to day to day activities advice to daily cleaning of room and changing of bed linen. Lusaka Backpackers in contrast provided room more like a garage, no cleaning or change of bed linen & no in room amenities. Location, security good.

A good place to stay for backpackers and overlanders - perhaps less so for us as more mature travellers seeking peace & quiet. Staff great with good advice, help and support. Location a little distant from main attractions but C'est la vie. Need to rethink ensuite room we booked - far too close to reception and bar and very noisy at night and early morning when groups and overlanders depart - needs to be in better location given extra cost. That said a good stay.

Great place to stay but set back from town more than we expected. Still not to far to walk down to town or Central Beach but steep hills coming back. OK if you are fit or have no disability. Very clean facility with helpful signage and staff. Only bad factor that twin room was located next to two toilets and kitchen and thus noise issues from other guests could be problematic.. Taxi booked through hostel seemed a tad expensive.

Hello Stephen Thanks for the review. We are only a 300m walk from Main Street shops etc. Not sure if you thought we were right in town? I will monitor the noise levels from the kitchen - especially in the morning when it can be quite busy because of breakfast. Thanks for highlighting this. The prices to activities can be quite high if less than 4 people. Our staff usually books taxis with the better pricing. I will monitor this as well. Regards Dave Swart

Good clean place to stay but a steep walk downhill to town and central beach have to be borne in mind. Good wifi and helpful staff and owner. Only critcism is room we were given while not en-suite was close to two bathrooms and close to kitchen making noise from other guests an issue.

Hello Stephen Thanks for the review. The walk to town and back is not too steep but I have to agree that the hill from Central Beach is very steep! I will monitor the noise levels from the kitchen - especially in the morning when it can be quite busy because of breakfast. Thanks for highlighting this. Regards Dave Swart

Lodge just needs a little attention to detail. In self catering double room the kitchen tools and crockery for self catering were lacking or broken. The room narrow and bed limited in size with small tight bathroom/shower room. The staff were helpful and otherwise good place to stopover before heading west or east. Wifi was good and got reception in room.
