Definitely one of the top 3 hostels I've ever stayed in!! Very friendly and the free caipirinha hour is awesome, a great way to get chatting to other people! One of the best features is the TV room which has mattresses and loads of cushions so it's perfect for chilling out when you can't be bothered to do anything or if you're feeling hungover ! Good breakfast served til midday and comfy beds! There's a swimming pool too, although it is very small. Only problem is the area is unsafe at night!
Absolutely loved this hostel!! :D One of the friendliest hostels I've stayed in, lovely, friendly, young staff who make an effort to get everyone involved in things like pizza/burger/games nights a few nights a week, cheap bar and there's a pool table and table tennis table too! The island itself is gorgeous and it's only about a ten minute walk to the main beach :) highly recommendable!
The hostel was very new when I was there in July and seemed not quite finished. The lockers in the room were good, one big one under the bed and a small one next to the bed to lock your phone in while it's charging, which was a good idea. The communal areas were only small and not overly friendly. There was also no hot water in the showers when I was there, but that might have been fixed by now.
The staff were wonderful at this family-run hostel! They made me feel very welcome and even invited me to join them for a barbecue one day! The hostel was very clean and comfortable, had good wifi and a computer for guests to use. The only problem is that the hostel is far from the centre of Foz so to get to the falls you have to get two buses which is fine, but takes a while. Not a problem if you have a car. There is a very good and cheap sushi restaurant round the corner from the hostel! :)
Cute and cosy hostel about 10 minutes walk from the centre of the town. Had everything it needed really except the wifi was slow so you couldn't use it for Skype or anything. There wasn't much atmosphere when I was there, but maybe that was just a quiet period. No real complaints!
The only good thing about this hostel was the location in the centre of Ipanema. When I arrived there was no one there to check me in and I was waiting around for ages before I finally asked the hostel next door if they knew who worked here and they managed to find the receptionist for me. Tiny kitchen, no atmosphere and low ceilings in the rooms so if you're on the top bunk you keep hitting your head. No breakfast either.
